Publisher's Summary

Trump, as extreme as he is, is less an aberration than a logical conclusion - a pastiche of pretty much all the worst and most dangerous trends of the past half century. A one-man megabrand, with wife and children as spin-off brands....

Remember when it all seemed to be getting better? Before Trump happened? Naomi Klein, internationally acclaimed journalist, activist and best-selling author, shows us how we got to this surreal and dangerous place, how to stop it getting a lot worse, and how, if we keep our heads, we can make things better.

No Is Not Enough reveals, among other things, how Trump's election was not a peaceful transition but a corporate takeover, one using deliberate shock tactics to generate wave after wave of crises and force through radical policies that will destroy people, the environment, the economy and national security.

This audiobook is the tool kit for shock resistance, showing all of us how we can break Trump's spell and win the world we need. Don't let them get away with it.

"A timely culmination of all of Klein's ideas"
What was one of the most memorable moments of No Is Not Enough?

Too many to mention. It was a culmination of all Klein's ideas, perfectly summing up politics as it is now. It has certainly helped me to approach the disastrous election results with less trepidation and confusion. Showing that Trump is a symptom of the problems we have in the West as opposed to a freak result of an open democracy is crucial when it comes to making transformations for the future we want.

    Any additional comments?

If only she was more widely read, perhaps events like this could be avoided rather than us all retrospectively slapping her on the back for diagnosing our worsening problems

    "A must read!"

Perfectly narrated by Brit Marling, No Is Not Enough gives hope in what feels like a hopeless social, political, economic and environmental world.

For those who are new to Naomi Klien, this also acts as a concise summary of her other important works: No Logo, Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything.

"Essential reading for all who are or want hope for a better world"

This book combines the results of thorough research as to why Trump and other recent shock political events occurred with ideas and hope for a better future. It is readable & beautifully read. Although the first part had me weeping with grief for the way we have trashed our planet, the rest of the book offers solid ideas for how we can get out of this mess and create the world we all want. There are examples of how people have come together in the past to overcome oppression & defeat what might have appeared as hopeless situations. Thoroughly recommended. I think a hard copy of the book would also be useful for reference purposes.

Amazing, beautiful, an absolute must read/listen, if you have been looking for answers and direction in the apparently hopeless situation of big oil destruction/brexit/trump, then this is it, they go low we go high, always, let us leap towards a better future!

    "Brilliant, clear and thought provoking"
What made the experience of listening to No Is Not Enough the most enjoyable?

The narration perfectly matched the tone of the content. Unlike many audio books the narration was not at odds with the message.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Is Not Enough?

There are so many 'memorable moments'. I have no doubt this will be a book that will have a long term impact on how I view and live in this world.

What does Brit Marling bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Her narration perfectly matched to the message.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There was so much in this book which impacted on my thinking but perhaps the clarity with which Naomi describes the link between politics, greed and the self interest. The potential for this elite group to create global havoc and erode human rights purely to amass even greater personal wealth is terrifying. Making the dystopian novel a reality.

    Any additional comments?

This book should be part of the school curriculum. Indeed everyone should read it!

    "A compelling survival guide!"

An urgent timely handbook on resisting the neoliberal madness that will destroy the world as we know it! The chapter on the Standing Rock Sioux was very moving! Read and get on board, your children will thank you for it.

    "A must read"

Terrifying and liberating all at once.

After 36 years of being disengaged with politics, hoping to find answers else where, I recognise the need too be engaged, if only to actively participate in new ways of working together against our corporate political grave diggers.

This book will hopefully galvanise more listeners into action.

    "Inspiring and brilliant....."

This book has taken my anger and despair, and transformed it, into not only optimistic hope, but, I now see how focused, intelligent action and organisation can and will not only defeat this greedy, self obsessed fool Trump and his like, but we are so close to potentially changing the entire planet and all its systems into a healthy, loving, creation of unlimited wonder.....we are limited only by our imaginations. I recommend Jiddu Krishnamurti to read alongside Niomi. The life force, i.e., love, is always more powerful than greed, which comes from ignorance and fear. Thanks young Miss Kline, you are a beautiful soul.
