Summary

Passive aggression. Road rage. Snarky tweets. Queue jumpers. Idiots who are #justsaying. Fat shamers. Victim blaming. Furious waitresses who refuse to sell you a hot dog...

We are ruder than we've ever been. In this incisive and very funny book, Danny Wallace investigates the new wave of rudeness that threatens to overwhelm us. He travels the world, visiting our rudest critics, interviewing psychologists, psychiatrists, bellboys, cab drivers, bin men, barristers, politicians, a limo driver called José and at least one expert in cooked meat production. In doing so he uncovers the hidden truths behind what makes us rude, whether it can be caught and how one small moment of rudeness - like being declined a hot dog - can snowball into disaster. From the jihadist who launched a blistering attack on the "bad manners" of his fellow ISIS militants to the mayor in Bogota who recruited an army of mimes to highlight inconsiderate driving, this is a very funny and powerful exploration into the way humans work and why it is surely time for an antirudeness revolution.

One of my favourite audible books

I think I saw a review saying "It doesn't seem that interesting from the title- but it is amazing". This is accurate. Every syllable of Danny's story is engaging, thought-provoking and ultimately a great snapshot of where we currently are as a society. Great stories, great narration and a truly fascinating audiobook.

Mediocre

I normally like be Danny’s writing but this one just doesn’t cut the mustard. It feels like it was rushed out just to satisfy a publishing deal. Danny’s usually interesting voice seems to drone on and on. A great means to get one to sleep.

Good but ending was a bit flat

Danny Wallace is great, funny and very pleasant to listen to. Enjoyed it all the way to the end where it just seemed to fall a bit flat. However still a very good listen.

Witty and interesting

This book was a great listen in the gym, in the car, and just in general.
Danny Wallace narrates in a style which is amusing and clear.
Behind the relatable anecdote and witty comments, the message of the book is profound and important.

Definitely worth a listen.

Husband recommended this....

I found this book a great rush-hour listen, it’s light enough not to distract you from driving but entertaining and made me laugh out loud. other rush hour drivers must have thought I was strange chucking along to myself and smiling in traffic.
