Summary

From his childhood love of animals, through his training and first steps in the profession and the pressures and challenges faced by vets, dealing with unexpected exotic pets - and handling excitable humans too - Julian Norton has seen all sides of the veterinary world and writes about it all with humour and affection.

Just as happy calving a cow, treating a dehydrated chameleon or tending to the overgrown teeth of a rabbit, his passion for his work shines through in every chapter, as does his love for Yorkshire. With a foreword by James Herriott's son Jim Wight, Julian's story brings to life the world of the working vet and the highs and lows he and his colleagues face on a daily basis.

Riveting

I really enjoyed this audio book, funny, entertaining and enthralling.

Loved the stories especially the kitten one. Knowing the colour of the object swelled straight away was hilarious.

BORING BORING BORING if I could mark Zero stars I

Not only are these tales nothing like James Herriot, but the narrator is nothing like Christopher Timothy. The only resemblance is that he is a vet... tick and he is in the same practice as James Herriot... tick.. and he is a bloke..tick

Remember Frank out of the Vicar of Dibley and his story about the day the pub ran out of cheese and onion crisps? Well THAT is 100 times more interesting.
I could not believe it, He repeatedly went on about the fat he was in the same practice as James Herriot and he knew James Herriots son, and theat just kept being repeated over and over...
He would go off to a farm to inject a cow or whatever for whatever.....yes? and?... nothing... he came back and went to another farm to do something similar... whoppee do..
There were no anecdotes, funny, sad,..... remotely interesting it was just boring and the narrator added zero to it , in fact he left me feeling....... "death where is thy sting?"
Please don't waste any money or credits on this.
I am returning it, now there's a surprise..... and then I am going to do something far more interesting... like WATCH PAINT DRY
