Publisher's Summary

Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental illnesses in the world. Often they go hand in hand with each other, and unfortunately for thousands of people these serious mental health concerns go untreated. Perhaps you or a loved one suffers from anxiety or depression. I want you to know that there is help out there, and that no matter how bad things may seem, tomorrow holds a brighter day, with solutions that you might not see right now.

Anxiety and depression have been a major component of my life for over 30 years. I have been an avid follower of the medical community, and watching the perspective change on depression and anxiety has been fascinating. Today, one of the leading methods for treating anxiety and depression rests with cognitive behavioral therapy. It is my goal over the course of this book to educate you about the core causes of depression and anxiety and to provide advice and help for everyday things that you can do to minimize the negative effects of these mental health conditions.

My experience in the field of behavioral health is practical and comes with years of research, both introspective and academic. I want to provide you with a toolbox to treat anxiety and depression and to understand part of the root cause. Start listening, and soon your anxiety and depression will be put into perspective; you will have a theory of the root cause of depression and anxiety in the modern age, and you will have a set of strategies to help you cope. There's no reason to let anxiety and depression take hold in your life; start listening, and you, too, can break the grip of these serious mental health conditions.

    "Not CBT"

This isn't CBT. I'm sure the author meant well, but telling people who are suffering from depression and/or anxiety that they should just, "Make lists! Eat right! Exercise! Yeah, it's hard, but it's worth it!" is so condescending and absolutely not helpful. Worse, he advises turning to comfort food to feel better. I've read other books (such as The Feeling Good Handbook) on CBT and they cover in-depth guidance on analyzing the twisted thoughts that lead to our emotions and how to change your thinking. I was hoping for something like that in audio format and am very disappointed in this book.

    "Helpful Advice!!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be better than the print version?

i love the both version both where good...
One of the solutions that the book proposes is the simple, but powerful act of recording your own thoughts. If you boil it down, it's basically 'journal-ing' your thoughts.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

I'm a big believer in using this method as a way to gain clarity and help you emotionally de-tach from what's going on in your mind. It has helped me on many occasions to put things back into perspective, when I "feel" like I'm losing control of what's going on in my life.

What about Miguel Rodriguez’s performance did you like?

amazing performance i really like his performance Miguel Rodriguez..

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

i heard it by one sitting..

    Any additional comments?

There are others that the book suggests that are also worth trying. Find one that works for you, and stick with it until it becomes a habit.

    "good advise"

I found this book to be a mostly easy . Other than the occasional tangent into technical jargon, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Good advice that is easy to implement and doesnt cost much (if any) money. I liked that it mentions various religions without placing anyone above the others, allowing thelistener to take in the knowledge without judgement

    "fabulous"

This is a self-help book for anxiety and depression. In my opinion, though it can be used for other things as well. It walks you through a way to cope with the symptoms surrounding depression as well as anxiety.

    "amazing book"

The author explained specifically and clearly the techniques in overcoming fear. I was not familiar with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) until I have this book. It provides an excellent introduction of the basic principles behind this therapy. I appreciate how the step by step awareness to change the mindset is well explained

    "happy thoughts"

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is something I have been interested in for quite some time. As I struggle occasionally with depression and my husband has a tough battle with it every day, I wanted to know more about something that could help us both. I found this book to be extremely helpful and full of tips, practices and techniques to help dig you out of the hole called depression you may find yourself in. I can’t wait to start implementing some of these things in my daily life.
To be happy you must think happy thoughts. This is not as easy as it may seem. If you make the choice to be happy no matter the obstacle, eventually it will become the automatic response: To see the silver lining. Getting there is the challenge. I can’t wait to go on the journey with the help of my husband and this book

    "Waste of time"

The author does not reveal any scientific backing for his pop psychology, it is his opinion based on his personal experiences.
Be aware that the examples of the moods he calls depression and anxiety are clearly not clinical depression or an anxiety disorder .

"ALL NEED TO LISTEN THIS BOOK"
Would you listen to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy again? Why?

My ideas of what the author is talking about reflect my spiritual side also. I agree slowing down and keeping your thoughts in the present. It like going within to listen to your higher self.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Living in the moment so that you can stop your negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.Being mindful of excessive thinking creates obsessive behavior.

    Any additional comments?

I love what he wrote about the gratitude to give yourself and how it will boost positive thinking. Great listen!!!!
