Summary
No Man's Land by David Baldacci is an exciting thriller featuring special investigator John Puller, who is pursuing a case that will send him deep into his own troubled past.
One man demands justice....
John Puller is the US Army's most tenacious investigator, but he is not equipped to face the truth about his mother's disappearance 30 years ago. New evidence has come to light suggesting that Puller's father - a highly decorated army veteran - may have murdered his wife.
When Puller's friend, intelligence operative Veronica Knox, arrives on the scene, he realizes that there is far more to this case than he first thought. He knows that nothing will prevent him from discovering what really happened to his mother - even if it means proving that his father is a killer.
...the other seeks revenge.
Paul Rogers has just been paroled after spending 10 years in a high-security prison for murder. And with his freedom comes a desire to pay back old debts. Harbouring a dark past that changed him in unimaginable ways, Rogers embarks on a journey across the country, set on a path of revenge against the people who took away his humanity.
As both men uncover a trail of deception that stretches back decades, they soon realise that the truth will bind them together in ways they could never have imagined.

Not quite as exciting as the previous three books but kept me interested. Was disappointed to see Ron McClarty was not narrating but Kyf Brewer turned out to be great as well.

Look out Jack Reacher!
I really, really enjoyed this novel. I have followed John Puller since the very first novel and have likened him to a less aggressive Reacher. But that's probably because he's still in the army!!! Because he's not always by the book when it comes to matters affecting his family.
This story involves another family member - his mother - especially as it relates to his father and her death! However, the real star of the show in this, is Paul Rodgers. I'd LOVE it if Baldacci wrote a series around this guy! He would DEFINITELY be Reacher material, and the adventures that he would have!!!
This was released about the same time as Lee Child's Jack Reacher novel, Night School. I have now read them both and, to be honest, even though I enjoyed them both, this was head and shoulders above Night School. All I can say is, "Look out Jack Reacher! John Puller is after your crown!"

Good listen
Any new book from david baldacci is worth a listen, i have listened to every book in this series and enjoyed them all. There is always a good story line and some good action. I love the way this is narrated by both a mail and a female narrator, it really brings the story to life. If you like lee child, brad thor and vince flynn or just a really good listen then give this a try.

On chapter 3 but getting irritated by narration.
What did you like best about No Man's Land? What did you like least?
Kyf Brewer is driving me nuts. The man can narrate. His voice is good but WHY does he change his voice to a vacuous surf dude when reading the lines for Puller?
This is ruining the book for me.

3am, I need to sleep, just one more chapter
Would you consider the audio edition of No Man's Land to be better than the print version?
No, I lose myself in a book, audible or print, I am there! I smile, I jump I cry, I get angry. The best advantage of the audible is I can do others things, I can garden, do my housework etc. ( and sneak it under the covers when insomnia strikes)
What other book might you compare No Man's Land to, and why?
I doubt I would have finished it if it reminded me of another book. This is the fourth in the series and all are different, fresh and exciting.
Have you listened to any of Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy ’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Yes very professional. It was like welcoming home old friends.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Unfortunately yes. I kept promising myself, just one more chapter, but, with so much going on I needed to do just one more. Gave up at 4 am. Insomnia has it's advantages
Any additional comments?
One on the characteristics of a good writer is to make an outrageous situation believable. Here is Paul " made" to be a cross between the Incredible Hulk and the bionic man. Not only did I believe it, but was "rootin" for him. Hoping he and Puller would meet up and work together. Did they? Listen and learn

Puller's family sage continues
As readable as Baldacci always is. Neat plot, some credible characterisations. Are there any more uncles or cousins waiting to be introduced into the series?
The Puller series has been naturally compared with Lee Child's work. I get the feeling that Puller might have been initially inspired by Reacher, but is moving away from him in terms of character. Puller is a more dutiful army man, committed to the corporate values he is paid to uphold. Reacher is much more independent of all that - he does what he needs to to survive and keep his nose clean with those he cares about. He is interested in the investigation, but even more in the upholding of justice - which may not be the same as the law. Personally, I prefer Reacher, though Child's current novel has hit some problems in the series.

This is a great read
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would and have recommended not only this book but the others in the Puller Series. The characters and plots are interesting and keep the reader engaged all the time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of No Man's Land?
It is hard to pick out just one moment they are so many, the description of Puller's mother's murder. The scene when Puller Senior hears his dead wife's voice and so much, much more.
What does Kyf Brewer and Orlagh Cassidy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Well, there is a soothing quality to their voices. The range of emotions both manage to convey using only the tone of voice amazes me. I particularly enjoy having someone read to me, so audio books are perfect for me.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The hardest case Puller has tackled yet grabs him and turns his whole world upside down.
Any additional comments?
An excellent series with interesting characters and plots. I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys Lee Child's Reacher series.

Twists and turns..above average
I am a baldacci fan and have read them all. No man's land is full of typical twists and turns...starts well with a whole lot of suspense but becomes a bit tortuous and boring in the middle...I felt it could have been shorter..too much action is better visualized in a movie than in a book..
The performance was good...
