Summary

The best-selling author of My Sister's Keeper and The Tenth Circle, Jodi Picoult pens her most riveting book yet, with a startling and poignant story about the devastating aftermath of a small-town tragedy.

Sterling is an ordinary New Hampshire town where nothing ever happens - until the day its complacency is shattered by an act of violence. Josie Cormier, the teenage daughter of the judge sitting on the case, should be the state's best witness, but she can't remember what happened before her very own eyes - or can she? As the trial progresses, fault lines between the high school and the adult community begin to show, destroying the closest of friendships and families.

gripping drama

loved this. not a huge fan of the narrator, but fortunately the story is so compelling that this can be overlooked. credible characters and plenty of twists and turns. I was trying to second guess . left me with some unanswered questions, but rather that than a predictable plot anytime. highly recommended this .

definitely recommend

absolutely loved it! This book was chosen by my book club, I chose the audio version because of the size of it! (I love a long novel) took the speaker around the house whilst doing chores etc because I wanted to hear what happened next

A brilliantly written book.

One of the best books I've listened to in a long time. I just couldn't stop listening.

interesting twist

Good story with easy to listen to narrator. Maybe stretched out a little. the main character tugs your heart.

Thought provoking

Was recommended this book and although i can’t say I really enjoyed it I thoroughly recommend it myself, it absolutely absorbs you and makes you see things from all perspectives. It prompted discussion with friends and family and I love a book where when you finish you have learnt something, I did with this. Beautifully written I am looking forward to starting another by Jodi but may need a comedy alongside too!

thought provoking, intelligently written twisted

The Americanisms annoyed me at first especially the overuse of the word "sucked" however this and the. narrator's American accent faded due to her compelling storytelling and twisted plot lines. An excellent read definitely reading more Jodi Picoult. Ace

Gripping and heartbreaking

I really think this book should come with several trigger warnings. School shootings and domestic abuse to name two! But it’s really well written, really engaging and really well narrated. Definitely recommended, but not if you’re likely to be upset by it.

Great story, horrible performance

As always with this author, the story is gripping and emotional. But the performance was really poor - alternating between GPS-like narrative and strangely choking dialogue voices..

Loved this

Simple narration made the slow build up even better. Kept me hooked to the end. Believable characters with depth and foibles.
