You can experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit...every day! "Are you filled with the Holy Spirit?" Sadly, there has been much division surrounding this one question. Many believe that the Holy Spirit in-dwells a person at the moment of their conversion. Others contest that baptism in the Holy Spirit is a separate experience altogether. Apostolic leader, theologian, and healing minister Randy Clark shares about how this controversial and often misunderstood experience can be accessible to all Christians - including you!

Story
From the Azusa Street Revival, which began in 1906, a movement has grown to bring more people to Jesus than any other movement in history. While secularism continues to be on the rise in today's society, many areas of the world still experience church growth, thanks to Pentecostal-Charismatic Christians. But the Pentecostal-Charismatic church is also plagued with sexual immorality, financial corruption, doctrinal error, personal flakiness, spiritual gullibility, prophetic abuse, and more. In many ways the state of the church today is not too different from how it was long ago.

Encounter the dynamic presence of God as you learn from pastor and author J. D. Greear how to more fully experience the Holy Spirit within you. Jesus gave his disciples the audacious promise that the spirit he would send to live inside them would be even better than if he himself remained beside them. Yet how many of us consider our connection to the Holy Spirit so strong that we would call his presence in us better than Jesus himself walking by our side? If you are longing to know God in a vibrant way, Jesus, Continued... has good news for you: That's exactly what God wants.

Story
This audiobook combines a serious examination of the state of today's church and a powerful solution: reclaiming the gospel of grace found in the confessional truths of the Reformation. Though the Christian church has achieved a worldly sort of success - big numbers, big budgets, big outreaches - these are not good days for evangelicalism. Attendance is down, and it is increasingly difficult to distinguish so-called "believers" from their non-Christian neighbors - all because the gospel of grace has been neglected.

What if the Bible actually keeps us from hearing the Word of God? For many Christians, the Bible is the only way to know anything about God. But according to that same Bible, everyone can know God directly through an actual relationship with Jesus. Jesus Unbound is an urgent call for the followers of Jesus to know Him intimately because the Gospel is not mere information about God, but a transformational experience with a Christ who is closer to us than our own heartbeat.

Imagine what it would have been like to be a follower of Jesus: first-century Christians walked away from their old lives just to be where He was. What they learned, sitting at His feet, was discipleship. And when His work on earth was done, first-century Christians took His words and example and spread out, teaching the gospel to everyone. The good news is that we, too, can participate in this lifestyle.

Much of what we see expressed in the church today is built on more than just the New Testament. It's built, instead, mostly on the Old Testament, church culture, and Paganism. It is therefore imperative that we as God's people dare to stop and take a closer look at the church today and compare it to the first church we read about in the Bible. If we are to succeed in making disciples of all nations, then we must go back to the "template" we find in the Bible. Let the reformation begin!

Jesus gave the commission to cast out demons to the entire Church in Mark 16:17. When God calls us into ministry, He equips us. The gifts of the Holy Spirit, as presented in 1 Corinthians 12, represent God's empowerment to believers to accomplish this task. We must rely on the Holy Spirit for the ministry of deliverance and nothing else, not our own understanding, or the voice of demons, but only the voice of the Holy Spirit to guide us in deliverance and spiritual warfare.

Story
Today, few people know exactly what the Scriptures say regarding the Holy Spirit, and the consequence is men trying to do things in their own strength. Sadder still is how one group denies the power of the Holy Spirit, while another group pursues the things of the Spirit more than they pursue Christ himself. Somewhere in the middle is the truth. This audiobook takes a close look at Scripture to see what the Lord himself tells us regarding his Holy Spirit and how it relates to us today.

Detours are designed for our own good, regardless of how we view or feel about them. Detours are a good thing that often feels bad. Tony knows a thing or two about detours.

Surprising (vulnerable, balanced, and thorough)
Not being a subject that I give regular thought to, I honestly wasn't sure I "had time" for a whole book on it. Yet I was surprised at how quickly I was drawn into the author's personal account!
Listeners of this book will find themselves facing this issue right alongside the author, as he retells his exploration of "The Baptism of the Holy Spirit" - without vilifying good people on either side.
Being very well read (with just the right amount of humor and bonus "off script" material), this crucial message is carried to the heart of anyone serious about wanting to passionately, properly, and thoughtfully follow Jesus in the fullness of His Spirit today.

Accessible, Personal, Thorough
If you could sum up Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking in Tongues in three words, what would they be?
Accessible, Personal, Thorough
What was one of the most memorable moments of Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking in Tongues?
9 Lies People Believe about Speaking in Tongues is accessible to anyone from any background, especially those who are from a non-charismatic background and want to learn more about the gift of tongues. Steve is such a person who came from that background. It was very interesting to say the least to read about his journey.
Which scene was your favorite?
Now this book is not just simply someone telling about their journey into the things of the Holy Spirit it is much much more than that. He goes into scripture explaining very soundly why the gift of tongues is given to the body of Christ and how and why it is available to every believer. He goes into depth on the importance of this gift and how it is a blessing to both the believer personally and the Church as a whole.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
A couple sittings is good or while driving.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book to every believer non-charismatic and charismatic alike. There are very helpful insights that I learned and was greatly encouraged in my fellowship with Christ through this book. There are also some great resource links in the back.

It was about so much more the tongues
Steve has blessed me with this book. My initial thoughts from the title was that it would another book that will just tell me all the thing I’ve heard from the many denominations that I’ve been apart of a one point of another in my life. It did but not in the way I thought, broke down all the things I’ve heard and gave insight strictly from bible. He gave Examples, encouragement and Confirmation on some of the things that the Lord had already speaking to my heart. This book was about so much more than just the gift of tongues. I have a few God given revelations throughout the reading of this book. Sometimes boxs like this feel as if You are having a deep spirit lead conversation with a fellow brother or sister in Christ. Thank you Steve, I have shared your book with many so it may bless them as well.

Nine lies is engaging and practical.
What did you love best about Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking in Tongues?
Steve's opening section of autobiography engaged me thoroughly as he described his own misunderstandings about tongues due to his conservative upbringing.
What other book might you compare Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking in Tongues to and why?
I've read other books about the topic of tongues, but most are strictly doctrinal argument. Steve bring much of his own personal experience into this book.
Which character – as performed by Steve Bremner – was your favorite?
Since he performs the book himself, he takes some liberties with the audio format. Steve pioneered podcasting long before it was popular and so has a natural ease bringing his own work to life.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Steve's anecdotes make this look at the theology behind the gift of tongues compelling.
Any additional comments?
Nine Lies People Believe About Speaking In Tounges surprised me. I’ve read other work by the author Steve Bremner, so I expected a good read with lots of biblical truth and interesting anecdotes. But Nine Lies starts with a mini autobiographical section that so matched my own experience it shocked me.
Steve opens the book with the story of growing up in the most anti-charismatic circles imaginable, and his own journey from the fundamentalism of the Plymouth Brethren meetings to a revival school spawned by the Brownsville–Pensicola outpouring.
He walks through each of nine common misconceptions about speaking in tongues and builds a clear explanation of the joys and benefits of living in the Spirit. Through detail use of scripture, he debunks the lies and extols the benefits of speaking in tongues as a part of a daily spiritual walk with the Lord.
The book includes an appendix with step by step instructions on how to either lead someone else or enter into the baptism in the Spirit on your own.
Nine lies is engaging and practical and I recommend to anyone with questions about speaking in tongues.

9 Lies debunked!
ve read several books on Speaking in Tongues but this is the most thorough and practical one I’ve read on the subject. The nine lies were clearly debunked by sound Biblical teaching. 9 Lies in an easy read or listen, as was my case. There is no beating you over the head to agree with him, only example after example of clear concise teachings to illustrate the points he was making. All of them sound.
I didn’t speak in tongues when I first was saved either, like Steve. It took an entire year for that gift to manifest and I wish I had read this book then; it would have set me at ease on so many levels. I recommend this book to those who, for whatever reason, don’t speak in tongues or even believe in speaking in tongues today because many of their questions will be answered. They will discover the power of this gift that is life-changing.
Besides being practical, Steve has a great sense of humor and he uses it throughout the book. For me, that is a big plus. Like Steve said, there are many humorous stories about this subject and I appreciated him “lightening up” some things with humor that otherwise tend to be so stoic and serious all the time.
