About this listen

Everything changed the day they arrived…

Adam and Kimberly Hall are enjoying a quiet suburban life with their daughter, Crystal, and their dog, Bowser, when an emergency message flashes on their phones: meteor impact imminent, seek immediate shelter.

Minutes later, the shock wave rages through South Austin like a hurricane, and they’re left to pick up the pieces. As dusk begins to fall and horrific creatures come crawling out of the impact craters, they realize they’re under attack—and the attackers are not from Earth.

After the initial encounters turn deadly for his neighbors, Adam realizes that they can’t stay in the city. He has an old Army buddy with a ranch in Texas Hill Country. They have to get there before it’s too late.

Nightstalkers is a post-apocalyptic invasion story for fans of The Last of Us and A Silent Place.

This book covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time, leaving you eager to know more. It could have included a bit more information about the invaders, but overall, I think you’ll enjoy it.

Great story

The narration kept me listening to this audiobook. The story however was a bit lacking for me. Part 1 really set the scene. I thought it was going to be a story to get lost in. But then it fizzled out to the usual post apocalyptic humans vs humans with no further character development. I didn’t really care for any of the characters, even by the end. The story was a bit slow and not quite joined up, no explanations given to important parts. I just made it to the end, but sadly no desire to continue the series. Shame, I feel bad leaving such feedback, but the book did cost me £7.99, so I feel it’s only fair to share my thoughts.

An ok listen, saved by brilliant narration

I had to listen to a ‘sci fi’ book as part of a friends challenge. I picked this one. It’s better than I expected, mainly because it wasn’t as sci fi as I thought lol
It seems to be a cross between walking dead (the zombies are now just aliens) and stranger things… because the aliens seem to be described similar. It’s quite fast past, which does mean you not left bored, though I do feel could have gone into more detail who they evolved and changed to survive etc. But the book was good enough for me, because although free, I purchased the follow on book

Walking dead / Stranger things
