Summary

Read by star of Derry Girls, Holding, and Redemption, Siobhan McSweeney.

Maeve Binchy at her very best - the superb novel of one summer, and four people whose lives are irrevocably changed.

Four strangers, with nothing in common but a need to escape, meet in a Greek taverna high above the small village of Aghia Anna. From Ireland, America, Germany and England they have each left behind their homes and their old lives, when a shocking tragedy throws them unexpectedly together.

Nights of Rain and Stars is the story of one summer and four people, each with a life in turmoil - and Vonni, the Irish exile who would very much like to help them, but has demons of her own to battle....

"The perfect summer read." (Mail on Sunday)

"The landscape is evocatively Greek, the characters so real you feel you know them. Warm, thoughtful, vintage Maeve Binchy." (Choice Magazine)

wrong narrator...

Don't bother about this unabridged version, the narrator is completely wrong for the story. The abridged version is so much better read, by Kate Binchy.

As always, an enjoyable listen.

I think I've listened to most of Maeve Binchy's books and always enjoy them. This book is a little different to her others, usally there is a chapter for each character in the book but that's not the case with this one. Each character is introduced gradually, I must admit I'm glad I listened to the book but I probably enjoyed some of her other books more, i.e. Circle of Friends must be my favourite. Also it's worth reading this book as other books make refererence to Fiona's time on the Greek Island.

Nights of Rain and Stars

Lovely read as usual by Maeve Binchy. I love the way all her books roll into one, you feel you already know the characters. Beautifully written in her own wonderful style.

The Narrator's Great!

Another review criticized the reader - wrong! The reader is excellent, clear and not too fast, perfect for driving along in the car :-)
The story is as magic as ever, especially if you have ever been on a Greek island for any length of time. Lovely flow of characters and relationships.

Perfect Maeve and Perfect Siobhan

What a wonderful storyteller Maeve was. This book covered various people with many accents. Siobhan is also a wonderful actor who is adept with accent changes for the characters in the book. I have just finished the book for a second time. Bravo Maeve👏👏🥇

Don’t go for this version, wrong narrator

I couldn’t get into this at all. I have downloaded the abridged version read by Kate Binchy which is much better. I’ve been flying through Maeve’s books so I’m a fan but I couldn’t continue with this version. Looking forward to the abridged version which is easier on the ears already.

Good overall

Not Meave's best tale but still a good listen enhanced by the talented narrator. 👌

Sounds

The voice of the narrated was difficult to listen to. The story was compelling, but the end was too long and drawn out.
