Summary

#1 New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts presents the final novel in the thrilling Night Tales series.

Jonah Blackhawk knew forbidden fruit when he tasted it, and Ally Fletcher definitely fell into that category. The lanky blonde wasn't just a cop, she was also the police commissioner's daughter. No matter how sharp or constant Blackhawk's hunger may be, Ally was off-limits. She needed to finish her case, get out of his club and out of his life, before the memory of their passionate embrace consumed him. Until then, he'd stay away from her and keep to his own world, protected by the cover of night, his Night Shield.

Night Shield

Any additional comments?

Narrated by Kate Rudd, Night Shield is a short one, under six hours of listening. There is a series of about 4-5 Nora Roberts books, Night Tales. This is one. Everybody in the Roberts books is drop-dead-gorgeous, so no change there. This time the lead, Ally Fletcher, is the daughter of the two lead characters of the first book, Night Shift, and some of the plot carries forward. Should tell you to read the books in sequence to get the most pleasure.

Typical of Roberts, mawkish romance interspersed with a great mystery. Not deep, not intended to be. Simply curl-up-on-the-sofa-with-some-hot-chocolate, your cat, and enjoy!

Quick listen, Shadows of Eve and Roarke

Sounds so much like Eve and Roarke except each of them is more solid in the family department and less isolated. Fun, I like it.

Night Shield

It was a fair story --- I've enjoyed other books by Nora Roberts better. Maybe it was the voice that read the story.I'm not sure why I did not like it .It just seemed like the wrong voice for the book.

Recommended

In series time, it has been many years since Night Smoke, the last story. Now the first of the next generation is an detective looking for those responsible for high end theft. I like this story for many reasons, not least of which is catching up on the lives of the entire family. The story itself revolves around families. His (friends and close associates) and hers (family in the more traditional sense of bloodlines). Because of this the story is that much richer.

A delightful tale I have read several times and now have the pleasure of listening to. The characters are strong and determined. The cop and the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. Yes, he turned his life from crime to good, he still feels not good enough. Now someone is using his nightclub to rob people. Not on his watch.

Narrator's Voice

Narrator's lead female character voice is uncomfortable to me. I don't know what it is, but it is very annoying to me. Story is fine.

Nora Robert's 5 book "Night Tales Series" (1990s)

This is a collection of 5 books "Night Tales Series" that are interconnected with characters. Having read all of Nora Robert's books for almost 4 decades, I was disappointed listening to these 5 books now on Audible. I didn't care for the narrator at all. I do realize that these books were written quite a while ago (30+ years). I had actually read them these years ago (before Audible) but had forgotten until I started listening to them on Audible (2019). Special Note: Nora Robert's is by far my favorite Author. In my opinion, the quality of her writing, development of characters and storylines improves each and every year. I sure hope she doesn't retire soon!

Night Shield

This story seems to be the seeds of JD Robb's In Death series. The man was a pickpocket in his youth, saved by a man who set him on the right path. The woman is a tough cop. Not everything lines up, but you can see the roots of the story here. Overall, very good!
