Summary

What happens when the cute mountain man you made out with in an ice-fishing shack turns out to be your brother's best friend? A whole lot of awkward, that's what.

Maggie's mind is reeling when she discovers the guy she became tangled up with at Marv's Bait & Tackle isn't a stranger like she thought.

The big snag: Sam and Maggie's chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected. Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

Fantastic listen!

Loved this! Perfect blend of romance and comedy made for a listen that I didn’t want to end. Great cast of characters and I loved hearing more about favorite characters from Wait With Me. Fantastic narrators who really captured the emotions and mood of the characters and story. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Amazing hook line and sink

I have always been fascinated with brother best friends books. This book definitely did not disappoint. Maggie was dumped on Christmas Day by her football player boyfriend. She was to ashamed to let her family know so she set out to win her ex boyfriend back in the process falls in love with another man named Sam.

Hook, Line, Sinker!

Next in Line by Amy Daws is incredible. I loved the witty humor, hint of taboo, and finding love when not looking for it. The imagery in this story is amazing. Having grown up in the MidWest, ice fishing was a big part of winter. I love how realistic and humorous this story is. The premise of trying to get her ex back through jealousy is fun, especially when it backfired and she (Maggie) found love in the process. Re-establishing priorities is something I took away from this book, along with a belly full of laughs. Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon both were spectacular in their performance of this book. I love their voices, and how they inflect realistic emotions. This book truly is an amazing listen. I loved Wait With Me featuring Miles, Maggie's brother, and think this one, Next In Line might even be better!

A great balance of rom and com!!

Next In Line is a super fun RomCom with a great balance of rom and com!!

Maggie is trying to remake herself to win back the guy who dumped her on Christmas morning. She had this big plan for her perfect life and didn’t want to lose her chance. She shows up in Marv’s Bait Shop aiming to learn how to ice fish and prove that she is not “basic”.
Sam is trying to keep a step back and not fall for this spark plug who just happens to be his best friend’s little sister. But it’s not long before he is caught up in Maggie’s lure...hook, line and sinker!

“I feel like I shouldn’t be teaching you how to snowboard. I should be teaching you how to know your worth.”

I thoroughly enjoyed Next In Line. It is a standalone RomCom but heavily features Miles and Kate from Wait With Me. And Wait With Me is SO Good I really suggest starting with that book it will only make reading Next In Line an even better experience.
I listened to Next In Line on audiobook as a reread and LOVED it even more with the amazing narration by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton!!

HOOKED! Line and Sinker!

Amy Daws' books are becoming one of my auto-buys when it audiobooks downloads! This is my third of hers, and they simply get better and better! Next in Line doesn’t disappoint!
24-year-old Maggie is on a journey of self-discovery & growth when she drives through Boulder, Colorado. Noticing people Ice Fishing, she decides to try her hand at it! (she’s more courageous than me, I tell you!!)
This leads to the sweetest and most unique 'meet cute’ EVER!
Enter Sam! (swoon! Whom, I am totally willing to freeze my nips off for btw)
When Sam hears a guy's vulgar exchange with Maggie, his chivalrous side bursts out!! (What I wouldn’t do for a bit of that!) Their journey begins, and oh my goodness, what a great ride it is!! Heartwarming, funny and full of loveable personalities.
Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon's narration is simply amazing! Their differentiation between female and male dialogue is pure perfection, easy on the ears, as with some narrators, it’s just PAINFUL to listen to.
These two make a magnificent team. Teddy’s deep and sexy tone had my toes curling, and Erin's delivery and resonance for the male dialogue makes you forget it’s a female delivering it!! I can’t recommend this enough.

Love this book

I love this story with Sam and Maggie, their chemistry is off the charts.. This is an opposites attract and a bit of an age difference. I can not say this enough... I love this book.. and Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton made this book come to live with the narration. You will not be disappointed.

Romantic comedy at its best

Who can make a story based around ice fishing one of my favourite reads of the year so far? Amy Daws, that’s who. I’m sure she could write a book about watching paint dry and still have me laughing out loud, because I swear, I had a smile on my face throughout this whole book. Sam and Maggie were hilarious together, they complemented each other perfectly both in and out of the bedroom. Forbidden romance, for want of a genre, or maybe brother’s best friend. You get the gist. Maggie wants to win back the heart of the mans she loves, Sam is willing to help her. After all he’s a commitment phobe, nothing serious is going to come out of this. Right? Yes. Famous last words. We also get to see lots of Miles and Kate from book 1 which adds further to the enjoyment (Miles is Maggie’s big brother). I don’t know what, if anything, is coming next in this series, but I’m living in hope for more. Romantic comedy at its best, narrated superbly by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton.
