Summary
It had been so long since she had someone in her life. She thought he was amazing. The perfect guy and the perfect date. His calculated game of seduction and deception worked flawlessly. After luring her into his death trap, he quietly slid out the door and disappeared yet again without a trace.
What clues are hidden in a picture perfect murder? Complex obscure clues woven into intricate crime scenes challenge Mac McRyan, all while a warped mind taunts him and stalks another innocent soul. As time relentlessly ticks down, Mac is forced to fight not only his own instincts, but a deceptively treacherous killer in his most mind bending and dangerous case yet.
New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Roger Stelljes has crafted another addictive pulse-pounding thriller filled with his trademark twists and turns. Vince Flynn described Roger Stelljes and his series as "Absorbing. Intense. Gripping. Stelljes is a powerful new thriller voice."

Victim number 2 is as good as already dead.
There is a serial killer in town, one very reminiscent of another killer years before. And he likes to play mind games. With each artistically posed body, he leaves a clue to the next victim - and a ticking click to when that murder will take place. With his wedding day rapidly approaching, McRyan needs to solve the mystery of the riddles and put a stop to this ruthless sequence of deaths.
This fast paced, involved and exciting thriller is both cleverly written and equally excellently read by Johnny Peppers who breathes extra life into the characters and constantly holds the listeners attention with his well paced and modulated narration. Whilst the identity of the perpetrator might be guessed at by the listener, it is not until the very ending that all is revealed
A really enjoyable thriller, complete with police procedurals to give pleasure to all who enjoy the genre. When I requested a copy of Next Girl on the list, I was unfamiliar with the earlier books in the series but this stood well as a standalone. My thanks to the rights holder who freely gifted me a complimentary copy. I will now be looking out for the other books in this series.

Stelljes Writes a Good Fast Paced Suspense
I've enjoyed this series from book one, but the relationships that develop from book to book can easily be followed with out reading these in order.
This is a very good mystery/thriller. There's a killer who is traveling the country who likes to play games with top law enforcement. He chooses a city and begins killing women he has already built a relationship with. He chooses women who are well educated and into the arts. They also must resemble the Rubenesque period women and be a plus size. After killing them he leaves clues to the next woman on his list on the way of artwork.
With each victim I found myself hoping the would be saved. Stelljes does not really provide clues about the killer so it's impossible to guess who he is until MacRyan himself uncovers his identity.
Johnny Peppers does a very good job narrating.
This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

YES
I can't believe that was book 6 - it read like the first book in a series in that I understood the relationships between characters and had no trouble following the plot. This is a truly *superb* murder mystery book. The characters are complex and dynamic, annoying and lovable. The story itself is intricately executed and Johnny Peppers delivers a truly fantastic performance. Usually I can guess who did it and how but this one took me by surprise - a really nice change of pace for me in murder mysteries. I would recommend this book to ANYONE who enjoys the murder mystery genre and I can't wait to read the rest in the series myself!

Thrilling new discovery
I'm always excited to find a new Mystery/Thriller series and this one fits the bill. I wish that I got to read it from the first book on, but honestly did not feel like I missed anything by starting with the sixth book. I plan to pick up earlier books in the series and catch up. Definitely recommend. Solid story with good pacing and not everything is as expected.

Everything that's great about a mystery series!
This is not my first McRyan mystery but it lives up to its predecessors.
This mystery was intense. In. Tense. McRyan was his usual alpha male self. The cat and mouse game was really well-written, albeit unsettling. (The bad guy in this listen was seriously deranged.)
The beauty of these stories (and you only need to listen to one book to know) is how well the author blends McRyan's police life with his social life. Our main character is multi-dimensional and complex with a great criminal mind, combined with a warm and agreeable personality. That's good stuff!
The narrator brings McRyan to life! He delivers on everything you love about a great mystery.
I don't know how many books are in this series but I'm so glad I get to find out.
