About this listen

There are new people on the Green... When old Admiral Trigg and his sister Lucy died, their house - Tullivers - stood empty for many months. Then one bright April day, some discreet onlookers saw a good-looking woman pushing her way through the nettles to the front door. Who was she? Was she on her own? Had she bought the house, and, if so, what kind of a neighbour would she be?

I love to listen to Gwen WatFord's voice. She can transport me directly into a Miss Read village.

I can never make up my mind which of the two village series I prefer, I think I’ll call it a draw. I’ve loved the Miss Read books for years and to find them on Audible narrated by such talented people, what a bonus!

A winter’s morning of snow brought me to the end of this audiobook. As I get older, I appreciate Miss Read’s calm writing more and more. A very gentle book. Lovely.

Escape to the countryside and the unfolding seasons. You will watch the lives of her characters develop and be amazed how much you come to care about them. Oh, and Gwen Watford (Dolly Bantry in Miss Marple) reads it beautiful.
