I can’t believe l stuck with this story , it was very depressing and had no morally justified ending. I don’t think l will read any more George Gissing

might be too psychologically detailed for modern readers but I love the depth of the 19th century novel. George Gissing clearly understood well the literary world which he portrayed. the rich and variable tones of the narrator were completely perfect for the story.
