Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

In her unmissable debut, actress and screenwriter Ruth Jones shows us the dangers of trying to recapture that which was once lost and failing to realise the beauty of what we already have.

We spend most of our lives wishing we were somewhere else or someone else, or looking forward or harping back. Always thinking the grass is greener on the other side. But it never is. It's still grass. Just a different patch of it, that's all.

The past has a habit of tracking us down. And tripping us up.

When Kate was 22, she had an intense and passionate affair with a married man, Callum, which ended in heartbreak. Kate thought she'd never get over it.

Seventeen years later, life has moved on - Kate, now a successful actress, is living in London, married to Matt and mother to little Tallulah. Meanwhile Callum and his wife, Belinda, are happy together, living in Edinburgh and watching their kids grow up. The past, it would seem, is well and truly behind them all.

But then Kate meets Callum again.

And they are faced with a choice: to walk away from each other...or to risk finding out what might have been.

Second chances are a rare gift in life. But that doesn’t mean they should always be taken....

Loved it!

This was a brilliant book. Be careful what you wish for! The grass is rarely greener. Narration was spot on and I actually cared about the characters. I wanted to know more but it ended perfectly. Get it made for TV Ruth Jones.

Absolutely fantastic

I really enjoyed this wonderful book. Not only was it beautifully written, but the narration by Sharon Small was absolutely wonderful. I would highly recommend and will be looking out for more work from both Ruth Jones and Sharon Small.

Brilliant

This was a pleasure to listen to and I am sorry I have finished.
The author really brought the characters to life.
It is Not a sex book as described by another listener but merely true to life. Thank you Ms Jones

Ruth Jones at her best!

I love this ladies talent for writing and telling a story on television.
Her humour is amazing and her ability to have you crying one minute and laughing the next is truly a gift and she's done it with this story!
Loved this book and please please write some more!

Very enjoyable

A great story very well narrated. The characters are familiar and believable, as are the locations that included my hometown. Very enjoyable Have to admit that the tributes at the end made me shed a tear. Thank you Ruth

Enjoyable read

I really enjoyed this book.
Thought the narrator was excellent.
I love the series "Stella' by Ruth Jones and therefore loved this book, as I feel in some ways it is similar. Looking forward to Ruth Jones next book.

Predictable but easy listen.

I found this storyline really predictable. I considered returning it but was on holiday so listened to the end. It’s a easy listen, the narrator is very good at accents!

Loved it!

Really enjoyed this book. I love Ruth Jones but I’ve sometimes found “celebrity fiction” a bit disappointing so I went into this with a bit of trepidation. No need. It hooked me from the start and kept me going until the end. I think I listened in two sittings and I kept getting stuck in the car because I couldn’t switch it off.
