Summary

Kennedy, reagiert darauf mit einer neuen Zielsetzung für die USA: Bis zum Ende des Jahrzehnts soll es einem Amerikaner gelingen, als erster Mensch auf dem Mond zu landen. Am 20. Juli 1969 ist es soweit: die Apollo 11 startet mit drei Astronauten an Bord zum Mond. Neil Armstrong setzt als erster Mensch einen Fuß auf den Mond. Für die USA ist es ein beispielloser technologischer Triumph.
Als Thomas Reiter als 11-Jähriger einen Brief an Neil Armstrong schreibt, ahnt er nicht, dass er die Antwort erst Jahrzehnte später, als er sich selbst gerade als Astronaut im Weltraum befindet, erhält. In diesem Feature erzählt er von seinem Kindheitstraum, einmal ins All zu fliegen, beschreibt das wunderbare Gefühl der Schwerelosigkeit und berichtet vom Alltag eines Astronauten.
