Honest opinion

If you learn to ignore Lovecraft's constant racist remarks and concentrate on a story- nightmares might haunt you for a while, shear fear is passed in a intense manner. Caidance all over the place in the Whisperer in darkness, which makes it hard to follow flow of though. The rest is absolutely outstanding, love the enthusiasm in other narrators!!

Some of the reading voices are bad

Fantastic book as it's the legendary H.P Lovecraft but the vocals are off putting and can at points damage the experience of the suspension saying that tho some are actually not too bad so it's a weat with the chaf situation

Fantastic narrators!

This is a prime example of good narration.
The narration of shadow out of time and Herbert West are among the best I’ve heard, with spot on voices. You can tell that they actually like what they read!

Compelling delivery of a difficult read

I found myself - when reading Lovecraft- often being challenged and this would often act as an excuse to stop me reading. However, due to a charismatic delivery of stories I was able to relax and enjoy this collection of stories.

If Only More Were There

The only drawback is brevity. This collection has lulled me in a way no other ever has. My only criticism is against the lack of media within the title. There is much more in HPL's work left to explore. A fantastic reading, emotional and respectful.

I am forever in its debt.

verbal diarrhoea

His language reminds me of verbal diarrhoea of Jane Austen. Same story could be told 3 times shorter. Not to mention the first 2 speakers are not great. Could not stand it, had to stop listening

Awesome

If you could sum up Necronomicon in three words, what would they be?

Well worth it.

What did you like best about this story?

The different narrators made the stories more exciting.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?

Herbert West

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did.

Any additional comments?

If there had been ambient sounds I would not have listened to it in the dark, that is how good I found it.

CTHULU! The slathering,gelatinous beast!

As a Lovecraft virgin I found this a most excellent intro to his work and style, some performancea are better than others but overall a great purchase, Despite the fact that Lovecraft was obviously an old racist/xenophobe which gives a sometimes uncomfortable air to a story, the storytelling is so captivating in his own distinct style that a degree of accepting him "in the context of his era" is forgivable.
