Summary

Company’s Coming!

Just when Baron Minalan the Spellmonger figured out there was a slim chance to restore his mind-shattered wife Alya (if he's willing to journey to the undercaverns of Olum Seheri, the lair of Korbal the Necromancer), things start to go awry: not only does Prince Tavard, his unloved liege lord, decide to conduct an official state visit to Sevendor on pilgrimage to the Everfire on the Briga's feast day, but a mysterious seamage appears at his door with an intriguing offer from the Sea Folk who rule Callidore: They want to buy snowstone. An entire mountain of it.

Between feuding factions of Alka Alon and the contentious nobility of his own kingdom, Minalan is already in arcane intrigue up to his pointy hat, but when the foremost wizard of the age has problems, he also has resources. Before the pilgrimage concludes it sets mighty actions in their courses, and even the gods elect to intervene publicly in Minalan's life.

Minalan realizes that he has little choice but to consider an impossible quest into the heart of his enemy's realm, to the caverns of the dead, themselves, if he is to resolve the many conflicts in play. He must recover an ancient artefact of the Sea Folk known as the Handmaiden, and in order to do so he will have to organize the most audacious raid on the most horrific foe in humanity's history on Callidore! Who else but Minalan the Spellmonger has the magic stones to challenge the undead might of the Necromancer!

An epic book with a bit of everything

I have waited a long time for this audiobook, it was worth the wait. So much happens and the listener gets a bit of everything combat, magical theory, insight into the world and some excellent twists.

A most enjoyable listen for fans of the series.

The narrator does an excellent job for the most part, there are several voices and the book is long. John Lee is very capable. The issue with Sire Ryf and how his name is pronounced did bug me as it changed a few times and its always been the same in previous books.

Author and narrator deserve thanks and I look forward to the next audiobook.

WOW!!! The best fantasy novel ever!!

This is by far, my favourite book on audible to date! I had to take time off work when it first came out, because I could not stop listening!

Terry Mancour has created a thoroughly entertaining masterpiece, and John Lee’s performance is outstanding!
There are so many moving moments and so many more that literally had me in stitches!!! (Be careful when in public, people will think you’re nuts)

I’ve just finished and I’m so pleased the next book is already available on kindle! If anyone is on the fence over getting Necromancer, My message is GET IT, it’s worth every penny and more!

From the beginning, keeps you enthralled in the story. Book 10 is no exception as the story develops & leads you into next chapter, making you wanting more and having to await the release of book 11.

No end in sight... thank God!

Terry Mancour writes fascinating compelling stories, and has done so again. The frustration at this point, I cannot wait for the next tale!

Probably My Last

I admit it was an interesting series as far as how it developed. The narrator started off horribly with the first book but got miles more skillful in later ones, though his range of voice changes is limited. This story though is quite meandering and I feel is just designed to keep us trapped in a storyline that needlessly takes years to finish a single villain off. So I think it will have to be my last. It’s book 10 and nothing of meaning has changed except the characters’ relation to each other and how much of the kingdom the main character controls.

I Hate to See These Books Come to An End

Just want one expects. A great story that captures your imaginations and keeps it moving. I love Sci. Fiction but over the years too many books for my liking have a lot of battles with very little story to flesh the different characters out. If you read or listened to the series all the different characters have complete personalities and you pretty much know what to expect from them. When there was betrayal in the King's house, you automatically knew the wrong person had been betrayed, although that too is a story within itself. John Lee performance is always stellar and just as I'm apt to avoid some books because of the reader, I'm willing to try a new author because I know his performance will not let me down. I'm so looking forwards to the next book.

What a turn of events

So, as a faithful listener of the series, I’ve been pretty happy with they way things have gone. BUT wow I did NOT expect, after so many books and near the end of the series, THIS plot twist. I will not spoil, but.... damn. I can’t wait to see if this either makes or breaks the last book (sadly I’m an audio-only reader here so I’m waiting for the last iteration to be released.) Wow.

Sci-Fi?

This has been my favorite book series for a while. But I don't know how I feel about this new Sci-Fi element being dumped into it.

Fantastic Series!

So, I’ve been very narrow minded about book genres my whole life...meaning I stick to Romance novels. I’ve also never understood why folks made such a big deal about audible. However, this series has 100% changed that. I feel like I’ve been missing out. I’ve finished listening to all 10 current books from the Spellmonger series on Audible in less than a month. John Lee does a phenomenal job with the narration and I’m 100% going to be looking for more books written by Terry Mancour. I’m extremely torn between reading the next book or waiting for it to come out on Audible. I would absolutely love to have hard copies of the series too! This series has certainly set the bar pretty freaking high for the rest of the genre’s authors.
