Summary

To get ahead she'll have to become a man - and a man, she always thought, never lets love get in the way....

Clementine dreams of being a naturalist - dreams that leave no time for romance. To sneak on an adventurous prospecting expedition, Clementine will have to convince everyone she's a man. A mysterious tonic offers her just that disguise.

But "Calvin", as she calls herself now, had no idea what she was giving up. When Wesley, the expedition's gentle preacher, catches her eye, she can’t get him out of her head; not his lush lips, wide brown eyes...or broad chest. Dare she reveal her secret to him, and can she keep her career if she does?

Among run-ins with cowboys, natural disasters, and traveling shows, Wesley’s most fascinating adventure is meeting Calvin. Though Wesley is betrothed, the cute, clever naturalist threatens to make him fall into temptation....

OK

Any additional comments?

I thought I knew what to expect in this book but the author did surprise me. However, I did find it slow going at times but I did like the scientific information in the book, since I was not expecting it.

The narrator I found had a monotone voice and this did not help the story, maybe this could be why I couldn't get into the book or connect with the characters.

Natural Attraction

This sounded like a book I'd like, but I found it confusing. The story is good, but there is too much going on.Theresa Wolcott was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

A Naturalist Dream Story

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

It is a different type of book for sure, but interesting just because of it. In a time when women were supposed to stay at home waiting for marriage and a dull life, this girl put her very essence in peril just to pursue her dreams as a naturalist. The change from womanhood to an androgynous being is certainly a little farfetched but probably the most logical solution for the time in order to create a possible storyline. You will learn much more about nature than you probably bargained for, but this is in no way a dull book. Listen to it with an open mind and enjoy the developments.
Perfectly narrated and a captivating tale.
