Terrible narration

This book is so badly read, it is really difficult to listen to. The content is great but the narration ruins it.

Terrible narration

I couldn't get through the first chapter. Words mispronounced, grammar ignored, it's like the narrator hasn't read a book before. Unlistenable.

Very poor quality narration

It doesn't appear that this audio book went through any quality assurance process. I'm sorry to say that the narration is completely amateur, clunky, with incomplete or incorrect pronunciation, oblivious to syntax/punctuation and robotic. It ruined the book for me. I found it difficult to follow some of the content because the poor narration was so distracting. They need to re-record it.

Interesting weird listen

Goes into depth on the subject matter with interesting and provocative ideas. The reader struggles at times.

Boring unemotional narration

Probably a good book but Alexa would have read it with more emotions. Simply awful, unemotional, sends you to sleep. Worst narration in my library I want my credit back.

Great content, terrible narration.

This book has some really useful content, but it is very hard to get passed the terrible narration. The narrator regularly mis pronounced and stumbled over various words. I really struggled to finish it, which is a shame as it would otherwise have been a very informative insight into and how to deal with NPD.

This is literally life changing

This audio book finally explained what I have been through the last 6 years. I legit thought I was crazy. After the 4th and final discard that landed me inpatient at a psych ward, I thought that this is what my life would be. And then I started listening about narcissistic abuse and my eyes were opened. This is literally life changing. I am so grateful for this audio book and it's wealth of resources.

This is the most incredible audiobook!

This is the most incredible audiobook, on this topic, that I have ever listened. It has put so much into perspective for me and my children. I’ve purchased 5 copies of this audiobook in the last 2 weeks and I’ve shed more than a few tears of relief as I am beginning to understand my experiences in a more forgiving, clear way.

I'm Finally Out of Prison!

As I listen this audio book, I feel like I've been released from an insane asylum. My mother showed all the indicators of textbook NPD, and not surprisingly, at least one of my older siblings did, too.

Has helped me immensely.

Wish I had listen it before other audio booksThis is not the first book I have read on NPD. I wish this would have been the very first audio book I listen , instead. It would have saved me of much headache and heartache. I am not finished listening this audio book, but I had to come in here and provide a review already.

Excellent resource!

An excellent resource for those who are in or who have been in relationships with a narcissist, as well as for counselors. The author provides a great overview of narcissists and their tactics, etc. as well as tools for healing from their abuse in a gentle, intelligent, yet down to Earth manner that everyone can listen and learn from. Bravo!

Narration is not good.

I couldn't get into this book even though the material seems to be good. The narrator is so bad that it just gets tuned out, he stumbles and misreads words and reads a slow monotenous way that just doesn't flow well. Too bad for the author.

Terrible

I struggled to get through the book. The narrator even had a hard time reading and pronouncing the words. You would need a dictionary to understand what the heck he is trying to convey. The author MAY know what he is talking about but did not make it easy to read or understand at all.

No thanks

I read this book to learn. I learned some new words, that was it. This book was very unclear. I wouldn’t waste my time.

Very poor narration

The subject matter is thoroughly presented and has very valuable information for anyone suffering through narcissistic abuse. The narration is terrible however. The narrator stumbles through words like listening to a fifth grader read an encyclopedia aloud in class. He consistently mispronounces "narcissism", which got irritating, considering it's the most frequently used word in the book. I may pick up the paper copy of the book to keep a a resource.

Right on target

If you’ve been through a bad experience because of a narcissist, especially a relationship, this audio book will feel like it describes exactly what you went through. It has some solid advice on how to reason about it and just knowing that you’re not alone and understanding what happened will help you heal. It also provides many suggestions for healthy activities you can do to help yourself heal and find your sense of self again.

One of the best audio books on narcissism!

I have listen so many audio books on Narcissism. Before I experienced it, I never even knew what it was. After I realized it, I listen audio book after audio book looking for answers. This one was most helpful. It helped me to think about the things that transpired in my narcissistic relationship, help me to identify them, and gave me the strength, to stay the course with no contact. That is the key to narcissistic recovery, but you have to get to the point that you have the strength to do it. The author made so many things so blatantly obvious, it was hard not to see a Narcissist for what they really are.

Extremely helpful

While I was already 2 months no contact with my abuser and had listen every audio book i could get my hands on while I was actually still in the relationship, I somehow felt stuck in terms of my moving on and reclaiming my life. This audio book was instrumental in giving me the tools I needed to progress in my recovery.

Therapist Recommended

I have recently separated from my Narc husband, which required me to move back to my home state 500 miles away, and obviously, to quit my job. I am still unemployed and have no insurance, so I have no means of paying for counseling. However, a friend who is a licensed therapist recommended this audio book......... and I am learning something new about myself, and my husband, each day.

This audio book is a lifesaver!

It gave me explanations of and names for the techniques of the psychological warfare that my abuser was waging against me. Now when he tries these things on me, I say to myself, this is projection or that is triangulation". While it is still horrible, it helps to know there are people who have experienced and healed from these same types of relationships. The audio book is also full of references to other publications for those who are interested in even more information.
