A riotous collection of memoirs which explores the absurd hilarity of modern life and creates a wickedly incisive portrait of an all-too-familiar world. It takes Sedaris from his humiliating bout with obsessive behaviour in 'A Plague of Tics' to the title story, where he is finally forced to face his naked self in the company of lunatics. At this soulful and moving moment, he brushes cigarette ashes from his pubic hair and wonders what it all means.

This remarkable journey into his own life follows a path of self-effacement and a lifelong search for identity leaving himself both under suspicion and over dressed.©1997 David Sedaris Entertainment & Celebrities Şöhret Komik Komedi Esprili Samimi İyi Hissettiren

I just love Sedaris's stories. They're honest, funny and uncompromising, and they read as if they're effortless to write, which is a mark of how brilliantly crafted they are (Rebecca Front)
A satirical brazenness that holds up next to Twain and Nathaneal West

I downloaded Naked after listening to David Sedaris on BBC Radio 4. This is an exellent audio book and made what is normally a monotonous commute to work highly enjoyable. I caught myself chuckling away on the bus many times.

Listening pleasure

What did you like most about Naked?

Brilliant delivery from the best essayist I've ever know. Great observation.

What does David Sedaris and Amy Sedaris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

No one else could read this with anywhere near the same impact. I've read a few of David Sedaris's essays and they great. However, listening to the man himself read the essays, makes the whole experience 100% better.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A bit of both.

Any additional comments?

By far the best essayist of our time.

After recently reading Calypso, I decided to revisit some of my favourite Sedaris essays and stories. Audio books are ideal for this task and I find his voice peculiarly soothing. Naked, to me, is in equal parts hilarious and melancholy and I adored revisiting this book whilst walking and tidying and going about my day. On to the next one.

So good I need to listen to his entire back catalogue now.

I’m quite the David Sedaris fan: if you are too, then of course you’re going to download this audio book.

Personally, I didn’t find Naked to be as ‘laugh out loud’ as his other works, but it was amusing nonetheless.
