MY FAVORITE NLP BOOK, AWESOME, INSPIRING, LOVELY!!

I AM A CERTIFIED NLP MASTER PRACTITIONER. I TOOK MY NLP COURSES INTENDING TO LEARN ABOUT MY OWN SELF. TO TRULY UNDERSTAND MYSELF, TO BE A MASTER OF MYSELF. THIS BOOK IS SIMPLY AMAZING!!! OVER THE YEARS I HAVE PURCHASED AT LEAST TWELVE UNIQUE NLP BOOKS. THIS BOOK IS THE AUDIBLE BOOK I LISTEN TO WHEN I SLEEP, DO BUSYWORK, AND RELAX, AND MEDITATE. TOM DOTZ NARRATES IT HIMSELF. I ALSO HAVE THE PHYSICAL BOOK AND THE KINDLE VERSION. TOM ALSO DID AN NLP INTERVIEW ON GAIAM, WHERE HE MENTIONS HIS WEBSITE THAT IS DESIGNED TO GO HAND IN HAND WITH THE BOOK, WITH EXPLANATORY NLP VIDEOS ETC. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ESSENTIAL HANDBOOK FOR ALL WHO ARE CURIOUS ABOUT NLP, & THOSE WHO ARE FAMILIAR WITH NLP FROM BEGINNERS TO PRACTIONERS, TO NLP MASTERS. YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING!!! `I AM VERY THANKFUL THIS BOOK EXISTS.

mental images

I finally understood what a belief is, how they are created and how to change them.
I began to use the practices in this book to change the mental image and voice that is my mind, to back my actions.
since listening to this book attentively, I became a more social person my understanding my old thought patterns and changing my state.

Incredibly intelligent content

Lots of useful technics to enhance and improve our lives. From everyday events to big goals. The audio makes me fall asleep, though. I guess it’s because the content gets kind of complex to follow through sometimes and the voice is kind of hypnotic. Like a grandpa telling a bedtime story. I really like this book anyways!

Says it’s for beginners but nope

Way over the top for beginners. Never made it through as I quickly became discouraged.

Baseless gender stereotyping. Pseudoscience.

As a psychology academic, I went into this book knowing NLP is a pseudoscience. NLP is built upon some misguided ideas and yet I still have been interested because I know some smart people whom have had interesting results by studying it. They too know it's pseudoscience but have gained perspective from it nonetheless. You can get the same results by practicing meditation.

This book is targets readers that haven't already spent a good deal of time introspecting into their own thoughts. I got a few chapters in and a few bits of nonsense struck me so hard I had to turn it off. The first was that much of the book explains concepts with anecdotes where presenting a factual explanation would have been easily possible, if not easier to understand. The second was that many of the anecdotes differentiated between what a man versus a woman would think in the same situation, and these were examples of baseless gender stereotyping. It wasn't even necessary to make gender-specific anecdotes and yet the authors made them anyway. Anyone with a psych background would be knowledgeable about gender bias and have no excuse. I skipped through the rest of the book to find these pattern continue.
