Story
There are parts of our lives which are predestined, and no matter how hard we try, we can’t change what will happen - what must happen. Andrew Manners understood that better than most, but it didn’t change how he felt about his past or his desire to change it. Even angels have regrets, and after living two mortal lifetimes in his angelic form, and with countless other years ahead, he would give it all up to be with the man he’d loved and lost for just one short lifetime together.

The Memory Engine – a device which allows you to explore past locations and events through the amalgamated memories of people who were actually present at the time. Revisit your past within computer-generated, photo-realistic reconstructions, all from within an advanced virtual reality headset. That’s all well and good, but when Evan Turner is asked to test the Memory Engine before its official release, his life begins to fall apart. He could probably deal with that…if it wasn’t for his own ineptitude and social awkwardness that is.

Like human teens, the android sisters develop not only by nature but by nurture. Nyx, the red-eyed robot, finds life to be a journey you experience a step at a time. For Dayna, the violet-orbed android, life is a game to be won through emulation and manipulation.

Very good book

Summary
When your loneliness means your work becomes your obsession. What happens when that obsession becomes real? What happens when the virtual becomes flesh? Sci-Fi meets horror in this terrifying exploration of human dependency and dystopian ideas turned upside down.
One man finds out what happens when the lines between humanity and electronic blur. Is emotion a solely human trait? Or can it be attained? Can a computer have a soul?
This terrifying novella from the 2016 SIBA award-nominated author Rob Shepherd doesn't hold back the horrifying possibilities of the answers to these questions.

An unexpected gem!
A story about humans and their complex relationship with technology that took me completely by surprise. What started out as a heartfelt story about a man and his AI creation quickly takes a dark turn that I loved (which makes me question my own sanity) and wasn’t expecting. Shepherd writes beautifully and seeing as this was my first book by him, I’ll absolutely be checking out his other work. Highly recommend this one to any horror or even sci-fi lovers.
