Couldn’t listen to this

Huge disappointment. Ironic that a book about music production is so badly produced that I couldn’t listen to it. Narrator sounds like a computer. So awful you have to listen very carefully to make sense of it. Don’t waste your time with this in audio format.

Disappointed

I was expecting to learn something out of this book that would help me in my music production. All it did was talk about music industry and people in it. I got nothing of value out of this book.

poorly read but decent content

The cadence of the speaker is jarring in places, she speaks without understanding the sentences.

Bring back the 80's and Wool worths!

If you are a child of the 80's this audio book will transport you back there in a trice , being a student at Portsmouth polytechnic in 1984! It's a poignant love story and music appreciation class all rolled up together.

Great story, especially in light of his own death.

Wonderful way to end the Death Trilogy, very funny and profound, as always. Some popping and what sounds like someone listening a different audio book next door.

recording a bit muffled.

its like it was played on a cassette tape and then recorded on a speaker. sound quality is a bit dodgy. that's the only complaint.

I have purchased this audiobook

My husband and I have been working on an album for a while now. He’s a musician and I’m a singer, so making and recording the songs went well.

Narrator is in the way of content

Narrator seems to be just reading. The emphasis, phrasing, tone, meter make it difficult. At times words are mispronounced. Hard to follow ideas over several sentences due to the narrators droning.

Not much actually said that was helpful...

I was looking for practical application and this book is most definitely not that. It felt more like a college essay with constant name dropping and vague references. The book could easily be called... “There’s no right way to do it and I can’t help you.” The narrator was terrible. Mispronounced names, bad production (ironically, as stated in another review) etc. In an attempt to find some useful info I had to listen at double speed only to find that nothing of substance was ever revealed. Please... if you are searching for practical application information, look somewhere else. Complete waste of time.

Ironically, horribly produced audio

Narrator sounds like she is too far away from mic with reverb. She also slurs words, cannot pronounce Justin Bieber or Paul McCartney's names correctly nor paying attention to her own words as the inflection of words and content are not in sync. The S's are killing my ears. What a bad production and content was not as advertised.

the most monotoned audiobook I have ever heard

I couldn't even listen to a full chapter. This book may have great info, but I will never know. She couldn't even pronounce names of very famous artists right.

A practical overview of music industry now

The main reason for 4 stars is that insists on using the words like "dough" and "cheddar" for money. It was distracting at best.

For the musical technician it last person.

This audio book integrated significant technical information about music and the brain in a manner that would help both the musical technician or layperson have a greater understanding of each.

Surprised how much this helped

I'm currently in grad school. As much as I wish I could say this actually did make me smarter, I can't honestly say that it did. That being said, I found that listening to this on a low volume while studying or doing homework does help improve my concentration and focus.
