A new chapter of Rudeus' life beckons as he throws himself into his research, house-hunting, and planning a wedding. A much-appreciated, slower-paced slice of life arc about our newlyweds, but still featuring world-building and tackling topics like mental health. The romance blossoms further, and we are even given a wedding reception. It put a smile on my face to read. Badigadi showing up out of nowhere, Luke and Ariel proving how much Sylphie means to them, and all the cute Rudy x Sylphie moments in their new house together or out shopping.

But we are still treated to the other things we expect from the series, like magic, mystery and wonder. The haunted house, the discovery of the mechanical doll and the development of theory regarding magic circles were all a welcome addition.

But most importantly, Nanahoshi’s development. After witnessing her have an existential meltdown and shut down completely, we see Rudy once again go into full protective and caring mode, refusing to let anyone end up like he did. This led to some heartwarming moments and developing friendships, while at the same time, getting closer to the answers we have had regarding teleportation research.
