Summary

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France…

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France. But he arrives too late to save his client, whose brutally stabbed body now lies face downwards in a shallow grave on a golf course.

But why is the dead man wearing his son’s overcoat? And who was the impassioned love-letter in the pocket for? Before Poirot can answer these questions, the case is turned upside down by the discovery of a second, identically murdered corpse…

absolutely brilliant

I'm actually becoming obsessed with Agatha Christie🤣 I finished all of the miss Marple stories in about a week and a half during lockdown. I then took a break from christie and listened to the complete collection of sherlock Holmes before returning once more to the queen of crime. I wasnt sure about Poirot as I was worried he'd be a slimy, pretentious bigot as so many male detectives in that time were. I needn't have worried, however, as Agatha Christie is too brilliant a writer for that. I definitely recommend this and all other of her books wholeheartedly and hope you enjoy them just as much as I have. I am increasingly aware that I seen to be morphing into a grandmother type as I listen to these stories while drinking tea and knitting, despite being 15 but do you know what? Hell said the duchess:). This story is just as excellent and thrilling as any other by Christie so please settle down with a nice cuppa, looking out into the autumn evening and listen to this wonderful tale.

Lots of Christie twists. Well worth the listening time. Has all the right ingredients for the whodunnit.

Great rendition but story too serpentine

Great story still but a bit too serpentine. Great narration though and I still enjoyed it.

Loved every minute of this book!

So many red herrings but poirot wins again! Hugh Fraser at his best throughout this book created amazing different accents, and characters were flawless .
As ever well written by agatha Christie and a brilliant cast of characters throughout.
I couldn't find any faults with this book even if I tried.
A must read/listen for any poirot/Christie fan.

Usual brilliance

I gradually found myself getting lost in the twists and turns of characters towards the end.

First rate!

An absolute cracker of a Poirot, narrated to perfection by Hugh Fraser, who plays Captain Hastings in the famous British TV series. The voices are so spot on you can lose yourself in this one!
