Peyton/Marco Dynamics.... Fantastic!

Listeners committed to the Peyton Brooks series will enjoy this book. It is a little different from previous books in that the focus is split between the mystery and the relationship between the characters. Listeners may already be familiar with the dynamics of the Peyton- Marco relationship but this book takes that knowledge to the next level. This story is a carefully orchestrated history of the relationship. Instead of writing a prequel to the series, ML Hamilton stages the perfect way to progress the series forward while visiting scenes from the past.

The Cleanup Crew strikes again. This time the murder takes place on Alcatraz and the murderer almost gets caught. Almost, but not quite. In the process, Peyton nearly gets shot and Marco shoots the murderer's intended target. What happens when police officers are in a shootout? They have to visit with a psychiatrist, much to the disgust of Peyton and Marco. In the process the audience learns about their relationship from the beginning. Meanwhile the homicide team learn more and more about the Cleanup Crew as they get closer to unraveling and understanding his killing patterns.

I loved this book, which is not surprising. This series is absolutely fantastic. Kudos to ML Hamilton for creating this series and kudos to Kelley Hazen for performing the book with such flair!
