Unbalanced mix of stories

The first two stories were good, but the 3rd and fourth weren't appropriate. Book returned poorly selected mixture

Disappointed with the bad language

Would you try another book written by the authors or narrated by Jeffrey Cummings?

The narrater was fine.

Would you ever listen to anything by the authors again?

Yes

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Did not

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Murder in the Rough?

First couple of stories quite funny, but later ones spoilt by bad language.

Any additional comments?

I'm no prude, but listening with family on car journey. Quite embarrassing

Jeffrey Cummings’s narration ruins great stories

Once again, Otto Penzler has done an excellent job of collecting a wide variety of stories and their authors. This golf-themed collection includes works by well-known stars (e.g. Lawrence Block), in addition to some less-than-well-known, yet very good authors.
HOWEVER, the collection is RUINED by the narration of Jeffrey Cummings. I think that I maybe could have adjusted to the extremely whiny voices he gives to some male characters. What drove me CRAZY, though, and overshadowed the authors’ writing, is that Cummings gives every female main character the same voice, one which quite often doesn’t match the particular characters, especially the strong women. Honestly, I have never heard in real life a woman use the type of voice which Cummings provides in this collection. His female main characters have a strange, submissive, trying-to-sound-sexy tone and cadence. I am planning on avoiding purchasing any more titles which are narrated by Jeffrey Cummings, and strongly encourage you to do the same!
