Summary

A puzzling murder. A suspicious suicide. A nervous mother. A town on the brink. And cake. Lots of cake.

Amateur sleuth Sabrina Carlson has solved every case that she has ever investigated. Only this time, things are different. She's fresh out of leads. And the clock is ticking.

It has been over a week since Mark Wilcox was murdered. Not only is the killer still at large, but a panic has taken hold of the idyllic small town of Treasure Cove. Will Sabrina find a way to catch Mark's killer, or will this case go cold?

This is the first book in the Mysteries of Treasure Cove series. If you like pause-resisting cozy mysteries featuring a picturesque coastal setting, plenty of twists and turns, and a witty sleuth, then this is the book for you.

Pure fun.

Meredith Potts writing style is beautiful, so easy to follow and understand the story that it’s impossible not to enjoy her books.
Coupled with Carrie Burgess excellent narration doubles the joy.

Full heartedly recommended.

My honest review even so that I got this audiobook for free.

OKAY

Enjoyed the concept but don't think the narrator was right for this book. Writing style was straightforward and easy to follow.

Not for me...

So looking at the reviews it's obvious that there are readers who enjoyed this book. Unfortunately it wasn't for me. I actually struggled to finish it.
While I find the narrator ok, I find her very wrong for the book, contributing nothing to the atmosphere.
Although the core idea of the story is good, the plot doesn't seem to be going anywhere. It just goes on and on with tedious details about everyone in Treasure Cove. It feels like a report from a small town's biggest busybody.

LOVE MEREDITH POTTS!

Another fine and delightful story by Meredith Potts!
She's one of my favorite "cozy" authors, and Carrie Burgess does a great job narrating.

If you like murder, and you like a good mystery and.... most of all.... if you like CAKE, you'll love this one :)

A Different Beginning.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It was interesting how the author chose to start the narration in the middle of an investigation for a murder mystery that seemed to have reached a dead end. Pressured by a sense of unease that things are getting way too uncomfortable in the once cozy coastal town of Treasure Cove, the detective duo of amateur Sabrina and professional husband David, are faced with one of their toughest cases. Because the town is small enough for the main characters to be acquainted with most of his inhabitants and particularly so if you are also the owner of one of the most popular coffee places, the suspects are often very well known to the two detectives who need to put aside personal feelings in order to be objective even at the cost of loosing a friend.
I do enjoy the narrator's interpretation and for a quick listen, this is what the doctor prescribed...

Murder and Layer Cake

This is a new series that is a future spin off of the With a Side of Murder series. The mystery is fun and you get to visit some familiar characters in a familiar setting. Treasure Cove has changed a little, but a lot seems the same, Including murders. Nice job on the narration.

A good start of a series of a Murder Mystery:)

This story was the first I ever read of this type and author. The story begins in Treasure Cove with the main characters husband David and their investigation into a murder investigation. They have been married for around 47 years and need to uncover the victims killer and the victims name is Mark Wilcox. Both husband and wife work together to solve the investigation and separate facts from intuition or lies. It takes a while to get to the true person responsible and they are known as the best expect they are well and truly stumped including the entire town and even her own little girl. Can she manage to scent the murder and shield her daughter as well as not continue to lose hope or have others start to lose faith . Also, cake us what helps Sabrina get into the just of things. So murder and cake may just help save the day after all.
A great story full of great narrative possibilities for the future. Plus, the author is extremely amazing in many ways

not bad for series starter

I have to admit I read/listened to book 1 in the other series Meredith Potter first introduced this series and well didn't like it at all and the narrator was awful. I am so glad she revised this series made the characters a bit more personable and used a different narrator. I still do not care for the way they interrogate suspects and they are still a bit rude but this is a real improvement.

Another winner!!!!!!

Another great book. Now Sabrina is married with a daughter but she still has time to help David with cases. I love the Treasure Cove series. My only negative thing i can say about this book is i wish it was longer. The narrator did a great job.
As always, i look forward to listening to more i this series.

Enjoyable!

This cozy mystery is an interesting one! The husband and wife team follow up on the leads in a murder. The reader also did a good job of showing the different characters. An enjoyable read.
