Summary

In a town where Amish and English mingle every day, a grisly murder leads to mutual suspicion. Can Amber and Hannah find the killer before fear unravels the community... or he strikes again? Even before she heard of Owen Esch’s death, Hannah Troyer knew something was amiss at The Cat’s Meow yarn shop. The store has been closing at odd times, the ever-dependable Mary isn’t always at her post... and an English man has been seen loitering around back. Now, as leaves of brown, gold, and orange blanket Middlebury, Indiana, Owen lies dead on the Pumpkinvine Trail. The only clues to the murderer’s identity point in two very different directions - one of them leading right to The Cat’s Meow.

The police call in a federal investigator, but Hannah and Village manager Amber Bowman are in no mood to wait for them to figure out what they already know - that no one from the Amish Village could have killed Owen Esch. Amber and Hannah will need to work quickly to solve the murder mystery and bring harmony back to the Amish community.

Preppers, Bow Hunters and Murder

The second in this series is just as good as the first. I love Vanetta Chapman’s books about Amish life, especially the relationships that bring the Amish and English together. When Owen Esch is found murdered on the Pumpkinvine Trail, the whole village is heartbroken . . . and afraid. Amber Bowman, manager of the shops at the Amish village is married now to Tate, and she and her assistant manager, Pam Coleman are becoming fast friends. Roland Shaw, a federal agent from Indianapolis has been sent to investigate the case, and he has managed to ruffle everyone’s feathers. He can’t seem to grasp the “Amish ways” and now Amber and her loyal staff at the Amish Village are determined to find the killer themselves. Hannah, the manager at the coffee shop in the village, (who is sweet on Jesse, and hoping he will soon ask her to marry him), is helping Amber look for the murderer, because Jesse’s brother, who just returned home to the village has been arrested for the murder. This is a great series. How I wish there were more than three books!

A Great Story with Expert Characterization!

Author Vannetta Chapman’s book kept me up through the night reading this exciting murder mystery, set in an Indiana Amish community. It’s clean. It’s exciting. And it has imaginative, yet realistic, twists and turns every chapter. Usually I read Amish books for relaxation. This was shard to put down page-turner. Highly recommend!

Good stories

I like how the various stories were making mysteries and romance. I mostly enjoyed the fact that I didn't guess the ending!
