Summary

Can Jane Tennison uncover a serial killer?

The fourth in the Sunday Times bestselling Jane Tennison thrillers, MURDER MILE is set in 1979 at the height of the 'Winter of Discontent' when economic chaos has led to widespread strikes across Britain.

Jane Tennison, now a Detective Sergeant, has been posted to Peckham CID, one of London's toughest areas. As the rubbish on the streets begins to pile up, so does the murder count: two bodies in as many days.

There are no suspects and the manner of death is different in each case. The only link between the two victims is the location of the bodies, found within a short distance of each other near Rye Lane in Peckham. Three days later another murder occurs in the same area. Press headlines scream that a serial killer is loose on 'Murder Mile' and that police incompetence is hampering the investigation.

Jane is under immense pressure to catch the killer before they strike again. Working long hours with little sleep, what she uncovers leaves her doubting her own mind.

Narrated by Anna-Louise Plowman (Holby City, Black Sails and Stargate SG1).

Engaging tale

I loved this storey and particularly because it was Tennysons first crime as lead investigator.

Great book.

I absolutely love this murder mystery story. Jane Tennison is a brilliant detective and it's my most favourite book out of the series itself.

Good

Good story but Jane continues to be naive and annoying at times. Moran nasty bully, surely wouldn’t have got away with behaving like that even back then.
Narrator ok apart from dreadful Scottish accent.

Really enjoyed this one

This did lead to sleeplessness as I mistakenly listened when I went to bed and stayed awake to hear what happened next! Good storyline and I enjoyed this narrator. I do find it strange having a different narrator for each book, which is quite off-putting at times, as the portrayal of known characters can change from reader to reader. Not something I like. But 5/5 for this book.

Another great book

Another great listen from this author. The storyline as always keeps you guessing and the narrator was easy to listen to, no annoying accents as in many books.
I would highly recommend

Story good , just some cringy narration

Great apart from the attempt at the Scottish accent 🙄
Works as a stand-alone too. Not necessary to have read all the books
