Mr Marcus Pottermack, an ingenious and meticulous gentleman, of quiet habits, is in a desperate situation: wrongfully convicted of fraud, he escaped from prison and established a new life, only to find himself in the clutches of a ruthless blackmailer. With no recourse to the law, Pottermack can see no way out—until a happy discovery within the walled garden of his home offers the means to rid himself of his tormentor forever. But can even Mr Pottermack's careful planning avoid leaving some trace to pique the interest of the great medical jurist Dr John Thorndyke?

I read this many years ago and really enjoyed it then, and have really enjoyed listening to it too. Another adventure story and murder mystery, from R.A.F. a bit of cat and mouse too. A great story from beginning to end. Not that much Dr Thorndyke in this one, but as usual he knows exactly what is going on, no pulling the wool over his eyes.
