Summary

Darrow would have lived in peace, but his enemies brought him war. The Gold overlords demanded his obedience, hanged his wife, and enslaved his people. But Darrow is determined to fight back. Risking everything to transform himself and breach Gold society, Darrow has battled to survive the cutthroat rivalries that breed Society's mightiest warriors, climbed the ranks, and waited patiently to unleash the revolution that will tear the hierarchy apart from within.

Finally, the time has come.

But devotion to honor and hunger for vengeance run deep on both sides. Darrow and his comrades-in-arms face powerful enemies without scruple or mercy. Among them are some Darrow once considered friends. To win, Darrow will need to inspire those shackled in darkness to break their chains, unmake the world their cruel masters have built, and claim a destiny too long denied - and too glorious to surrender.

A perfect ending

Any additional comments?

I don't know how Pierce Brown manages to confuse, horrify, trick, depress, and overwhelm you with happiness all at the same time. The third instalment of Darrow's mission continues with all the action and humanity of the first two books. You will not want to turn this off, be warned! The narration, as always, is golden.

I absolutely adore this story

Fantastic story all narrated in grandiose fashion fitting to the rich tale.

I also really appreciate the normalisation of LGBTQA+ individuals throughout the trilogy of stories. It's not plot crucial but it's nice to be acknowledged for those in the community.

This was Prime

This is the 3rd in the series and an excellent continuation. The plot has all the drama, laughs and emotion we’ve come to expect from Brown’s writing. Reynolds keeps up the fabulous narration from before. Throughly looking forward to the next one!

Follow this!

I've loved this whole trilogy and am now in an aftermath of war, thinking "what on earth can I possibly find to to top that?". I have bought the books for my teenagers who have devoured them and asked for " day of release" copies. My husband and I have listened to the talking book in the car. Our tastes are worlds apart but we've both loved them. Unusually for a US writer all three books were steeped in humour, pathos and character restraint. The action and cleverness of plot twists (change the paradigm) were laugh out loud. The narration was brilliant. The choice and delivery of different UK and European with a very small spattering of US and SA accents to represent the different " colours " of society was perfect. Author and narrator both standing on each other's shoulders to produce something greater. I am very very glad I listened to this rather than read it.

The feels

How many times can one girl cry on the train! Really enjoyed the 3rd book! Laughed & cried! The ending made my heart warm. Such a fantastic narrator! Can't wait for book 4!

Satisfying conclusion

If you could sum up Morning Star in three words, what would they be?

Epic satisfying ending

What was one of the most memorable moments of Morning Star?

No spoilers

What does Tim Gerard Reynolds bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Thrilling account and pacing, great charcterizations

Any additional comments?

The final book from my perspective is a return to form. The second book was probably always going to be a 'bridge' but from the first chapter the last book in this series reclaimed the heart and soul rebuilt our hero and drove him towards an epic finale with good twists and turns along the way

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole series

Every book in the series is as good as the last. This one, in particular, had a thrilling ending.

Great trilogy in every respect. Characters, world building, politics, action and emotion - it had it all.

Highly recommended.

The narration by Tim Gerard Reynolds was superb.
