Summary

If you haven't met a Moomin yet, you're in for the most magical fun! The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Tove Jansson's endearing classic, Moominvalley in November, read with warmth (and some lively character voices) by the comedian Hugh Dennis. 'They can't have moved away without saying a word!' Winter is coming, and the Fillyjonk, the Hemulen, Toft, Mymble, etc. are all waiting in Moominvalley to see the Moomins return home. Winter doesn't seem right without them…

Critic reviews

"Beautiful words...Tove Jansson is a genius... - Jenny Downham, author of Before I Die." (Books for Keeps)
"They seem to grow in wisdom and delight every time I read them." (Philip Pullman)
“The adventures of the easygoing Moomintrolls have all the crispness and tart surprise of a lingonberry, thanks to Jansson’s ineffably light touch, her uncanny sensitivity to universal childhood emotions, and her gift for terse, naturalistic dialogue.” (Entertainment Weekly)

a beautiful melancholic tale

the narrator is brilliant and carries the character's energies through his voice.
the story is beautifully constructed.
it may seem just a children's book, but it actually has a deep underlying message, one of hope, loneliness, and friendship.

story synopsis:
The story follows various character's, as they all make their way to moominvalley to meet with the moomins.
All of them can not find the meaning they want in life. They are all stuck, one by one, we watch the mymble, grandpa grump, toffle, fillyjonk, the hemulin and snufkin all converge at moominvalley.
when they all find out that the moomns are not home they don't know what to do, and all these characters end up living together, for the autumn, in the moomin house.
strange and magical things happen around them, and character's are confronted with their own fears- and they overcome them.
The story manages to create a sad but beautiful atmosphere. One of feeling summer fading and of autumn creeping apon them.
All the characters are relatable and grow on their journey.
This story will touch your heart with it's melancholic whimsy and magical realism.
It's comforting in it's loneliness.
