Story
According to mythology, mankind used to live in 'The Tranquiline Halls': heaven. But then the Voidbringers assaulted and captured heaven, casting out God and men. Men took root on Roshar, the world of storms, but the Voidbringers followed. The Almighty gave men powerful suits of armor and mystical weapons, the Shardblades. Led by 10 angelic Heralds and 10 orders of knights known as Radiants, mankind finally won (or so the legends say).

Summary
Mistborn: Secret History is a companion story to the original Mistborn trilogy.
As such, it contains huge spoilers for the books Mistborn (The Final Empire), The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages. It also contains very minor spoilers for the book The Bands of Mourning.
Mistborn: Secret History builds upon the characterisation, events and worldbuilding of the original trilogy. Listening to it without that background will be a confusing process at best.
In short, this isn't the place to start your journey into Mistborn (though if you have listened to the trilogy - but it has been a while - you should be just fine, so long as you remember the characters and the general plot of the books).
Saying anything more here risks revealing too much. Even knowledge of this story's existence is, in a way, a spoiler.
There's always another secret.

dissapointed it's not new!
Not to detract from the story or the narrator at all, but as i have listened to the arcanum unbounded, this is one of the short stories within that book! kinda feel that should have been stated in the description, would have saved me getting my hopes up for something new!

This isn’t new, it’s just all the mistborn stories from Arcanum unbounded
I love Brandon Sanderson as a writer, but this is the 2nd time I feel I’ve been misled into purchasing a book that I technically already own. The same happened with edge dancer. It should be more clearly displayed that these 2 books are just the stories from Arcanum Unbounded. So just purchase that book & you’ll get this book, edge dance & other short stories in 1 purchase

Interesting...
As always with Sanderson's books, I have difficulty accepting his definition of a god, when "gods" die and lack omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence, and so on... to the point of calling anyone in these stories a "god" is utterly ridiculous, yet he keeps doing that. :)
Beyond that I just love the level of thinking that goes into these stories as the big picture unfolds, and everything and everyone has a purpose, and makes perfect sense. :D I also like how he brought back a dead character, with this back story, (or at least started the process, cause you know... filling a potential plot hole properly takes thousands of pages of convoluted afterthoughts, when you have a hollow iceberg of seemingly huge worldbuilding without actually falling into tolkienism... :D)

So glad I found this. I’m a big lover of the original trilogy, but I like the Wax and Wayne bantering in The Alloy of Law even more and I didn’t feel completely comfortable when that series came to The Bands of Mourning. It felt too odd and this story helps to alleviate some of that. It also gives a fuller picture of the ending of the original trilogy, increasing my understanding and appreciation of that part of the story. On top of that you get some deeper understanding of Sanderson’s big picture “Cosmere” and the “Shards”, which is helpful when reading The Stormlight Archive books.

Excellent book. Highly recommend for Cosmere fans+
This book is amazing. It gives great insight into what Kelsier was doing after his death, between what he was doing before he pops back up in other stories.
******* SPOILER FOR RHYTHEM OF WAR *******
Kelsier has shown up on Roshar, the Stormlight Archive world. He is the leader of the ghost bloods and seems to be working towards something grand (more grand than ascending to a God it seems).
I really hope that Brandon ends up writing secret history parts 2 and 3, because I'd love to know how he finally gets off Scadrial and whether or not he interacts with Hoid some more.
