About this listen

When a British heir hunter fails to return home after a trip to Malmö, Inspector Anita Sundström doesn't want to get entangled in a simple missing persons case. She shows a similar reluctance when her ex-husband begs her to find his girlfriend, who seems to have disappeared. But when the mysteries take a sinister turn, Sundström finds herself inextricably involved in both baffling affairs, one of which seems to be connected to a robbery that took place 20 years earlier. As the cases begin to unravel, tragedy awaits the investigating team.

I normally like this narrator but her awful awful English dialect and accent and pronunciation has totally put me off.

What awful narration!

For other books in the series I will stick to the written word. The story itself was good, but sorry I did not like the narration.

Spoilt by narration

The Malmö books are very well written and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading them as they are published.
The narration by Marguerite Gavin is woeful and spoils the experience of listening to a familiar story. Please please please do not attempt any accents, the story doesn’t need them and I’m afraid that the narrator does not have the range to either replicate them or even stay in whatever locale she has decided to place them, thus we get bizarre mixtures of accents from around the UK when a character speaks. The pronunciation of Swedish streets and squares - Lilla Toria? is also off putting for those of us familiar with these places.
Great stories and well paced but I’d recommend reading the books if you are able to
