Summary

Welcome to Nocturne Falls - the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year. Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne, and now...private investigator. Sort of. When she buys a sealed box at an estate sale and cat-related circumstances cause that box to be opened, life in Nocturne Falls starts to go haywire. Jayne has no choice but to figure out what she unleashed and how to recapture it. But Jayne suspects the woman behind the box is hiding something. Something that could cause a town resident serious trouble. Or worse, to lose their life. With the help of her two favorite guys, a sexy vampire and a hot summer elf, and a few new friends, Jayne tackles what feels like an impossible mission. And winds up almost iced herself.

happily enjoying the newly discovered author.

I love mystic and mystery and this author delivers both. I can't wait to get the rest of the collection

Happy I bought it

What made the experience of listening to Miss Frost Ices the Imp: A Nocturne Falls Mystery the most enjoyable?

So glad it lives up to my expectations from listening to the first book in the series.

Which character – as performed by Hollis McCarthy – was your favourite?

Still Juniper. Minor character she might be but she still appeals.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, my commutes are only so long so it got listened to in roughly hour-long sections, twice a day.

Any additional comments?

I'm now impatient for the next one to come out.

Great characters and a great story

This is the third book in the Jayne Frost series. They take places in Nocturne Falls but are different from the books in the Nocturne Falls series. This series stars Jayne Frost, Winter Elf, Winter Princess and Santa Claus’ niece. She is sent to the family store in Nocturne Falls to investigate members of staff that have gone missing in unusual circumstances. After getting to the bottom of that mystery Jayne stayed on to manage the shop.
In this addition to the series Jayne attends a sale at a house and purchases a beautiful, but sealed box and happily taking it home. Spider knocks it open and then hi-jinx occurs.
Another fun, mysterious, adventure in the wonderful Nocturne Falls setting.
Kristen Painter is such a talented writer and shines within this genre. How world building (well it's a town but the details are so thorough and wonderful) is so well done that you feel like you desperately want to visit the unique Nocturne Falls and want to meet all of it's fabulous characters.

Sweet snowballs

Any additional comments?

Jayne is enjoying her new role as the manager of the toyshop. She likes working with her best friend Juniper but the best thing about being in Nocturne Falls has to be her boyfriends, both of them. Greyson is a cute vampire with a sexy Irish accent and Cooper is a summer elf who was her first love back in college. She cannot possibly choose between the pair.

Her life becomes complicated once more when she opens a box and lets trouble out. What do you do when your cat starts talking?

Jayne is such a likable character that you can’t help but care about her but as for her love life I can’t help but wonder what’s on her mind. She needs to choose and my vote is on the vampire. Painter describes Jayne’s need for sweet treats too well, I can picture each and every dessert in detail and I’m not sure that’s a good thing because I’m now craving pastries, ice-cream, oh and a talking cat.

annoying voice

The narrator made the main character have a childlike voice. I'm sure the first book wasn't as bad.
Found it really off-putting.

Not much of a storyline

This book was more of a running commentary on the main characters love life with a bit of story shoved in here and there. If you want a guide to the rather strange and slightly immoral view of dating in America then you might enjoy this more than I did. However if you actually want a story with a bit of meat to it then this will disappoint.
