About this listen

Will Ella ever survive the move to Seattle? With her so-hippie parents. In the rain. With no friends, belongings, nada, zip?

Ella Jensen is an old soul stuck in a teenager's body, and she doesn't make friends easily. In her senior year of high school, her family moves across the country to Seattle, turning her already-small world upside down. She feels alone and lost....

But then she finds a box of decades-old love letters between Martha and Frederick; she becomes best friends with her tiny new neighbor, Miss T; and she gets her first kiss from Hans, a very symmetric German exchange student.

But summer ends abruptly when she is forced to make a decision that will change her life. Forever.

A warmhearted and humorous coming-of-age story, Lost in Seattle is a celebration of family, love, friendship, and that special bond between daughters, mothers, and women across generations.

If you love a fast-paced story with snappy dialogue and lots of humor and heart, this is the audiobook for you.

Lost in Seattle by Charlotte Roth is book one in The Miss Apple Pants Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Hope Dorman.

This is the second book of Charlotte’s that I have read and it definitely won’t by last. Her writing just pulls you into the story and you can’t stop reading until the very end.

Hope did a great job on the narration she really brought the story to life. However, I did have to listen to it between 1.25 – 1.50 speed otherwise it was really slow reading in my opinion.

I can’t wait to dive into the second book Lost in Love.

This book has so much going on, but you will love every second. It brought out so many emotions from me and yet it left me happy in the end but asking for more. I will definitely be looking for the next in this series.

I would recommend this book to readers/listeners who like a gradual progression to a story. I had a lot of trouble getting into the beginning of the book, starting and stopping it to listen to another book first at least three times since it started slowly. I would also warn listeners that the topics in the book got increasingly more mature with discussions of fertility/pregnancy/adoption/abortion and my personal pet peeve - lies and secrets. The characters definitely aren't perfect and don't necessarily learn from mistakes.

The narration of the book was good, although I noticed a couple places where the audio repeated itself.

There's not a cliffhanger for the next book in the series and this can be read as a stand alone novel, but there are definitely unresolved issues.

This is a great coming of edge book! I loved the story-line and can't wait to see where this series will go!

Well, color me shocked!! What a delightful listen! I could completely relate to Ella! I remember those high school days and wondering why I was so different than everyone else. I was also such an old soul in my teenage years. I never understood the craziness behind all these teenagers! So I totally felt like Ella was my soul sister (each, see what I did there?). Anyway, Charlotte Roth takes her listeners on a ride with this story! It was quirky and fun and was very surprised when the realistic feel and emotions snuck up on me!

The narration was fantastic! Hope Dorman really gave each character their own voice for their personalities. I'll be honest and say that I completely adored Miss T and was even more tickled with the narration for her. I'm immediately diving into the second book, Lost in Love!
