Summary

"An amazing, outstanding, all consuming, addicting and downright SEXY read!" ~Sassy Little Book Nerd

A washed-up model at the age of 27, Oliver Connely has gone from being a household name to barely making the rent. It’s time to think fast - and cash in big - with a can’t-miss idea inspired by the passion he sees in a handful of romance novel fans. Book Boyfriend Incorporated is born.

Can’t. Miss.

Right?

Except for the unexpected glitches Oliver’s business plan doesn’t cover - like falling for one of his “lonely lady” clients, Bailey Hardin, a politician’s wife who’s as smart and loyal as she is beautiful and sexy. Their chemistry, instant and scorching, is already a problem - but when Bailey’s husband turns up dead, the pair quickly learns they’re facing more than a simple PR nightmare.

The mess intensifies when Oliver’s best friend decides to put a bid in for the freshly vacated city manager position, ensuring Oliver is now caught between his longtime best friend and his new ladylove. The clock is ticking, and the political scandal is growing. Tough decisions must be made - especially because, for the first time in Oliver’s life, matters of his heart are on the line.

 *****

Misadventures is a romantic series of spicy standalone novels, each written or co-written by some of the best names in romance. The stories are scandalous, refreshing, and, of course, incredibly sexy. They’re the perfect bedside read, a ‘quick blush’ for the reader who loves a page-turning romance.

Jason Clarke is Book Boyfriend Worthy

Jason Clarke is a book boyfriend. He narrates the entire delicious story *swooning*. Long story short, Oliver is a fashion model who has not worked for a bit and he was looking for a new gig. After over hearing the ladies talk about their book boyfriends at the pool he impulsively put an ad out on the internet to be a book boyfriend for hire. He ends up falling for his first client. There is angst in the middle between his client now girlfriend and his best friend and room mate. I have to say I did not like the girlfriend until she redeemed herself at the end. Jason Clarke’s performance is amazing.

Very Enjoyable

This was my first book by this author and I enjoyed it!

It was cute and light. The middle dragged a little as she pulled the pieces together to wrap up the story but not badly.

I adore Jason Clarke! He has a lovely voice that makes any story that much better!!

Always read the blurb!

Okay, so I saw a few recommendations for this book in some groups I follow and it was a Whispersync deal so I bought it without reading the blurb. My bad. I know better. There are some things I just thouroughly dislike in a story and cheating is one of them. If I'd read the blurb, it makes it clear that cheating is involved. Again, my bad.

I will say though, that in a really compelling story I can get over this prejudice. Sadly, this was not a really compelling story. I thought the characters were very surface-level, self-centered, and altogether morally questionable even beyond the cheating aspect. While the writing itself wasn't awful, with a general dislike of the characters and no sense of growth or change happening in them I gave up on this story a little past the halfway point. I just couldn't see investing another 2.5 hours in characters and a story that I couldn't bring myself to care about.

The one redeeming part is that the narration by Jason Clarke was excellent.

Good story with fab narration.

If you need a Jason Clarke fix, this will totally satisfy your needs. He takes on this book with wonderful narration.

The story was ok. A bit out there, but the end was something I did not expect. It did have a hot instalove, but I wish it featured the bestie in a little bit of a larger role. Still, the narration is what makes this a pretty good read for me.

Misadventures with a book boyfriend

Great read. Oliver is a 27 year old model who hasn't been getting enough jobs. While at the pool he hears woman talk about a book boyfriend. So he comes up with an idea and runs with it. His first client is a woman to remember and he wants to know more about her. So when they set up their second date he finds out her name is Bailey. Oliver is in love, but when he finds out her husband has died and that she works in the same place as his best friend Skye it's starts getting complicated. Will Oliver lose is best friend or the Women of his dreams?

It's a toss up

I enjoy Jason Clark as a narrator I'm just not sure how I feel about this book. I liked the story but then there were parts that just didn't vibe well with me. It could be because I assumed one ending and got the HEA version which was completely opposite of what I was thinking. I was actually feeling more on the side of Skye's version which made it exciting for me thinking that Oliver was really getting ready to find out Bailey was shady and was playing him. I do enjoy most of the Misadventure series though and look forward to eventually getting to all of them.
