Should be a school book!

Short and to the point, it answers all the questions about why we can’t reach our financial security and how to fix it, how to get out of debt faster and build up savings. No nonsense approach. If the reader is ready to
Listen, the information in this book is all they’ll ever need for healthy finances. I’ll be re-listening to it and keep doing what the author advises. It also touches on the minimalist lifestyle which is something I’ve been working towards and people should know about the immense joy and freedom owning less can bring!
Narration is good, not distracting from the subject.
(The only thing I didn’t like was the sound effect at the very beginning of the book, I thought my phone broke.)

Useful tips and tricks

I’ve read several budgeting and finance books. I found this short listen very useful. It shows you how advertising tricks you into believing you need more things and make you more likely to impulse buy. It gives you tips to be content, to budget and satisfy your debts first. Good advise on saving and not getting into debt again. Good book to begin taking control of your finances. The narrator also did a very good job. His enunciation was excellent and he was easy to follow. Recommended!!

Very informative and helpful for a short listen.

This book brings to light the common mistakes made on useless impulse spending. What advertisers do to reel us in and how not to succumb. Mistakes made when trying to pay off debt, and how to become debt free. The narration is also well done. I was given a free copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily decided to leave this review.

Curb Your Spending

I am a reader and listener of all things budget and getting out of debt. I actually learned a few new things from this book, mostly the why I have a bad spending habit. I find myself referring to the book often this last week when I get an I need this or that urge to buy something I think will make my life easier. I am reminded why I feel that way. I remind myself of how this item it being marketed to me. If you are finding it difficult to curb your spending, this may be a simple little reminder.

In terms of the budgeting aspects of this book, they are good and minimal. I believe the budgeting aspects of this book are simplified, also they may contradict other budgeting and paying off debt advice from other major budgeting/debt books. But we all need to do what works best for us and one size does not fit all. The main area of concern is in regards to saving money to pay off big chunks of debt at once. Most debt experts would not recommend this approach, but it may work for other people.

With that said, I still think this is worth a read.

Narration: very clear and informative tone. Not top notch professional, but still decent.

Full disclosure: I was given this audiobook for free to review

Great tips if you don’t know them, great review if you do.

Starting with psychology, through advertising , and basic money management strategies, this is a great collection of tips and perspective. This is not a detailed checklist of steps to create a budget, but rather things to keep in mind as you adjust your life toward being able to reduce debt and save money.

I was impressed with the content. Short, easy single-car-ride listening. Solid tips.

The audiobook was given to me for free in exchange for writing an unbiased review.

Good simple tips

Minimalist budget is a very quick overview and introduction to why people blow their budget, and how they can avooid doing some. It covers a range of topics, from psychology to budgets to to changing habits.

Mason looks at the psychology of purchasing -(satisfaction of needs (maslow), attention and perception, preconcived beliefs, etc.) as well as how to ignore advertising (such as lessening exposure through ad blockers, ad free services), how to get over compulsive spending habits, increase your self confidence with budgeting, improving your spending habits (such as getting rid of impulse buys), saving strategies to get out of debt and a basic guide to money management.

Narration by David W Miller is okay. It is not overly interesting, and borders on bored. There is also a loud white noise sound right at the start of recording that shows a lack of attention to the recording process

Good Financial Advice

This is a short book with some good financial advice. The beginning talks about the psychology of spending and moves on to how to resist spending, and how to format good saving habits.

This book was especially timely for me, I have more hobbies than you can shake a stick at. Actually, if shaking sticks at things was a hobby, I'd own all the supplies for it too! Having a reminder to curb spending and study WHY I'm spending was helpful. The narration was done well. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
