Chapter 1 Excerpt "Minimalism: Beginners Guide to Minimalism "

What Is Minimalism?

Minimalism is the processes of scaling back from having too much to having just enough. People take on minimalism because they want freedom from things in their lives. Be it material possessions, toxic relationships, or mental clutter; minimalism has become the go-to lifestyle for more millennials today. It is not a lifestyle that caters for the youth; any person despite the age can adopt the practice in their life. Even if minimalism advocates for having fewer things, that doesn’t mean that material possession is bad. The idea here is to have the things that one needs and appreciates in their life today. Keeping things that no longer serve you or buying stuff because of a scarcity mentality is highly discouraged.

The reason this lifestyle is gaining popularity is that more and more people are starting to realize the value we attach to items. The fact that most of us cannot separate our memories and emotions from material things is alarming. The amount of consumerism in the world is also at an all-time high.

I purchased this book after watching on netflix.

I purchased this book after watching their documentary on Netflix. The experience of learning about their philosophies came at a time in my life when I have been feeling very lost and empty, feeling that I need to make some major changes. The minimalist philosophy was exactly what I needed and I am excited about the prospect of moving forward from here to improve my life & the lives of others!!

Beginners Guide to Minimalism

I realized through this book that minimalism can leave a positive impact on your mind. As soon as you free yourself from the chains of emotions bound to your clutter, you can instantly feel its worthlessness. You will give more importance to the people around to and in return, you will become a happier person too!

My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s going well.

I feel like minimalism has brought me closer to my family. Ever since I have listened to this book, I have cut down my wardrobe and have kept only the most essential clothing. I have also decided to get rid of the cable and enjoy Netflix with my family instead. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it’s going well.

I’m so glad that this book has finally convinced

Coming from a middle-class background, I have seen my parents collecting and keeping stuff that they don’t even need. When I try to question them, they just answer with ‘we might need it later’ or ‘we will get it fixed’ sentences that don’t even make sense. I have been trying to introduce the idea of minimalism to my parents for so long. I’m so glad that this book has finally convinced them to some extent.

Minimalism For Beginners, Book 1

This book on minimalism has made me realize how much we have emotionally attached ourselves to our material possessions. It doesn’t mean that having household stuff is bad; rather, the author has discouraged the idea of hoarding things to the extent that we start associating memories with them and refuse to let them go. I would like to recommend this book to someone who, indeed, needs to throw some of their stuff away and probably give it to someone in need.

This book has inspired me and my family

This book has inspired me and my family so much that we have decided to donate the things that have been lying around in our garage. It felt so good to finally have some space in our home. I will make sure to follow the minimalistic lifestyle in the future.
