Mini Farming describes a holistic approach to small-area farming that will show you how to produce 85 percent of an average family's food on just a quarter acre - and earn $10,000 in cash annually while spending less than half the time that an ordinary job would require. Even if you have never been a farmer or a gardener, this book covers everything you need to know to get started: buying and saving seeds, starting seedlings, establishing raised beds, soil fertility practices, composting, dealing with pest and disease problems, crop rotation, farm planning, and much more. Because self-sufficiency is the objective, subjects such as raising backyard chickens and home canning are also covered along with numerous methods for keeping costs down and production high.

“A concept destined to appeal to that intrepid individual whose independent nature finds the idea of abandoning the grocery store alluring.” ( Booklist)

As an avid food grower I’ve been looking forward to listening to this book: the idea of being able to feed my family on a small amount of land really appeals.
Starting at the intro being read by an obviously automated, American male voice made this nigh on impossible. With mispronunciation that only an AI could think is correct, I hoped that a different voice would start reading the main book, as is often the case. Unfortunately for this title the same voice reads throughout, with so little emotion or comprehension that the phrasing becomes impossible to follow. Add this to the mathematical nature of the first chapter, looking at planting structures for intensive home growing and the book becomes impossible to follow.
Definitely one to be read independently rather than listened to. A waste of an Audible credit, If I could return it and choose a different title I would.

Wish I could have a enjoyed this more, but the automated voice…!
