Too much blah blah

Summary
Expert instructor, Michael Chaskalson, who teaches on an acclaimed university-based mindfulness programme, brings new ease to practising the art of Mindfulness in his do-it-yourself, step-by-step guide Mindfulness in Eight Weeks.
Praised by the UK's National Institute for Health and Excellence and prescribed by the NHS, Mindfulness is fast becoming a revered and popular method used by healthcare professionals and lay people alike to help alleviate anxiety, depression, and stress.
In his new book, Chaskalson - well qualified with over three decades of practical experience - guides the listener in an eight-week course that is a hybrid of the two most popular approaches: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), offering an easy-to-follow course that you can practise in your own time and within the comfort of your own home.
Broken down into eight weeks with chapters such as "Mindfulness for the Breath", "Staying Present", and "How Can I Best Take Care of Myself", this is a highly practical and immediate approach to Mindfulness. With step-by-step instructions carefully coordinated for each week, Mindfulness in Eight Weeks promises to have you up to speed in under two months.

Very interesting but word of warning
I started this and found that it was extremely interesting and useful. However I became a little despondent when in the first chapter the author recommended the meditation session using track 1. Without the track running it then immediately cut to after that session and the author talked about the session etc and how often to use it. I felt cheated as I was unable to practice the meditation sessions (there were lots of practical sessions run throughout the book) and so felt that the book was based on an overview of mindfulness and not a practical guide. I finished the final class (10 weeks / 10 chapters) and then the recording went to chapter 11 which was the track 1 meditation session referred to in chapter 1. So if you are considering this audio course please be aware that when the author refers to meditation tracks to you have to jump to the relevant chapter for that particular track. Hope this helps. I will now be able to start listening again with the insight of the practice material.

Not easy to navigate in audio format
This for me just didn't work well in audio format. You have to switch to different chapters for exercises and then switch back to continue the book. Different in a tangible book where you can flick through or use a book mark but its not ideal if like me you like to listen in bed, contact lenses and lights out.

DO NOT BUY
I am not alone in this issue – please see various reviews highlighting the same problem.
Much of the book is guided meditations; however, given the ‘all in one’ nature of the download this makes navigating to the relevant meditation almost impossible.
Each chapter states ‘and now you will need to do the following practice….’ But that practice is somewhere near the end of the downloaded material, with no indicator as to where to find it.
i tried to use customer services to assist but they were very disappointingly, but not surprising, useless – will not be buying any more books that are unworkable.

A bit too simple and repetitive
Was Mindfulness in Eight Weeks worth the listening time?
not really. minimal content and often repeated then various meditations which you just have to sit through. not quite a cd of meditations or a lecture series so I don't think i could focus on the meditation or learn anything new.
