Summary

Learn about the attitude, the mindset, and the psychology behind success in sports!

Athletes have a certain mindset. Successful athletes have become who they are because of what happens in their brains. With the right perseverance, ego (or lack of it), ability to adapt, or quickness and eagerness to learn, you can speed up the results of your performance and find more fulfilment in the process. In this book, you'll learn, among others:

  • The difference between a professional sports player and an ace athlete.
  • Ways to interact with coaches, trainers, and mentors.
  • Reaching your true potential by conditioning your brain to achieve success.
  • Overcoming weakness and ego by embracing the entire sport and its history.
  • Which general workouts work best and how to keep training when things get tough.
  • What a "false champion" is and how to avoid becoming one by not having "improper" motivational thoughts.
  • Physical tips to keep you healthy while improving your muscle percentage and getting in shape.
  • Secret ways to honing sports skills.

Good information

I liked the principles I got from the book about focus, preparation and training in your mind gym. Athletes at all levels could benefit from the advice and the author knows how to tell a good story. I was not only touched by the words but I understood how to apply each of the situations and quotes to my own life. I now see many things in a new light. This is an incredible book and a must listen.

Good for coaches and athletes alike.

What made the experience of listening to Mind Gym the most enjoyable?

Actually, the book was recommended by one of my former athletes, a state champion. I read hers and purchased one of my own to use for athlete motivation so I could flag and highlight in it.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Mind Gym?

I bought the most recent copy to pass along to one of my current athletes who has found it very helpful; four state medals in two years. She is sharing it with one of her teammates and friends.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened in by 3 sittings

Any additional comments?

I think anyone who is just beginning a sport will benefit the most from this book. More advanced athletes probably already practice these techniques. This is a fast read so don't expect to spend more than a couple hours digesting the information. I took a few notes and felt like I learned quite a bit about mental game.

it's all about the mind

Inner excellence-that's what this piece promises and I believe it didn't fail its readers. the book contains thought-proving ideas regarding the significance of a mind's stability and strength. That an athlete will succeed if he'll only not consider his physical well-being but his mental being, too.
