About this listen

Commissioned in death to save a world in peril, a tabletop RPG fanatic is reborn as a humble farm boy with the rulebook for the universe at his fingertips!

Young Erich’s quest for an invincible character build will require more than his decades as a number-crunching munchkin, though. Even with power-leveled skills, feudal life is no cakewalk—especially when you keep drawing more attention than you can handle.

Can Erich adapt to his strange new world before his worst impulses take the campaign of a lifetime completely off the rails?

Let the dice fall where they may!

When the characters are in the story it's good. Sadly this book has a lot of filler. For example tips. Tips are like an educator is repeating something you have heard five seconds ago so you have to learn it by memory. My favorite of these is explanation of how many sides dice have or what a gm is or even a campaign. Why?

What should be impactful moments are ruined by author going off on a rambling journey to nowhere. Eventually getting back to the point but by this stage you have lost the joy of that moments climax.

This book does have a beginning, middle and ending so I give credit there. I don't feel anything towards anything towards these characters/story and have little motivation to buy the next book.

Narrator does a good job lifting up this material.

Ok , that's a strange title but bear with me . Great story well written and performed . Then suddenly the last half an hour it jumps forward 8 years blowing the old story away . I was not happy . But I have since found out the second book starts off with the original story line and the last half an hour of the book is just like a what if . DUDE , how was I meant to know that . So be warned .
That said a fun book more than worth a listen

Don't be put off by the last 30 minutes

So this isn't really a review on this book but the whole series. To be honest the only book in this series that was any good was the first one, beyond that everything went down hill. There are definitely good parts in each book but these parts are exceptions. One of the biggest downsides to this story is the master that took in the mc and his sister, and how the mc acts around the her even with all the ways she toys with him and his sister. I'm kind of lost with how accepting he is towards her especially with how much he seemingly cares for his sister and how much he sees her master toying with both her emotions and life itself.
