It was a time of crisis, a time of tragedy—and a time of transcendent courage and determination. Leon Uris’s blazing novel is set in the midst of the ghetto uprising that defied Nazi tyranny, as the Jews of Warsaw boldly met Wehrmacht tanks with homemade weapons and bare fists. Here, painted on a canvas as broad as its subject matter, is the compelling story of one of the most heroic struggles of modern times.

Having visited Warsaw and the historic sites there I wanted to re read Mila 18. Listening to it on audio was very moving with such an excellent narrator bringing the reality of what happened alive. Such sadness and yet such bravery cannot fail to prompt reflection on such a dreadful time for so many millions of people.

Excellent narration and captivating overall.

This book is a thought provoking powerful tale of bravery and honour in the face of severe unwavering persecution of a People, it is a book I read many many years ago many times and I never fail to be moved by the story and characters within. This audio version is paced beautifully and acted well. It is well worth your time and trouble to read or listen to.

This work of fiction tells the extraordinary story of the Warsaw ghetto. It is a difficult and tragic history but very powerfully written and performed well. I first read this book in the early 80’s and always wanted to reread it, such was its effect. I returned to it this year to find the print so small as to be impossible to read comfortably. I was delighted to find it available on Audible and to find it had lost none of its original impact.
