Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh returns with a follow-up thriller that USA Today called “an impeccable, unpredictable package of suspense, mystery, romance, and passion".

One by one, people are mysteriously disappearing from a small Maine town. Four months ago, a ruthless murderer killed two people and kidnapped three more, including Danny Sullivan’s sister, who barely escaped. Unfortunately so did the killer, vanishing without a trace into the vast wilderness. When the police fail to find his sister's captor, Danny returns to Maine to hunt him down.

He begins his search with another survivor, bed and breakfast owner Mandy Brown, but her refusal to cooperate raises Danny’s suspicions. What is the beautiful innkeeper hiding?

Mandy Brown has a secret. But sexy Danny Sullivan, his relentless questions, and the feelings that grow between them threaten to expose the truth. A revelation that puts her family in danger. As more people disappear, it becomes clear the killer is planning another ritual...and that he’s circling in on Mandy.

Mandy and Danny are both trying to outrun their memories, both trying to move on, but to do that they need to face their shared past, find the threat that is still lurking and help each other to heal.
This is book two in the series, you do need to read/listen to book one first as this picks up where that finishes, but both are available on Audible with Kindle Unlimited.
Mandy has found an inner strength she wasn't aware of but she is tired, physically and mentally, she was hoping if she laid low and ignored the threats they would stop but they are only increasing. Her heart tells her to trust Danny, but her heart has been wrong before...will he ever forgive her for doing what she must?

A jolly good follow up to the 1st book in this series, although it could be read a s a stand alone. Saying that, all the book I have read of Melinda Leigh’s are all good. Thrilling, exciting and can’t wait to get to the end fast enough. Just the sort I like.

I accidentally started listening to this book before realising that I wanted to know what happened in book 1 so I stayed up all night to finish both books.

This gripping and highly enjoyable book kept my heart racing and perpetually on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I really, really needed to find out what would happen to Danny, Mandy and their friends and family.

It is rare that I become so invested in a series from the start but Melinda is an incredible author and Christopher Lane is one hell of a good narrator (IMHO).

I look forward to listening to more of Melinda's books and Christopher's work..

Romantic suspense at its best.

Good continuity of the previous book in the series. Love getting to know the new characters, twists and turns again keeps you guessing as to who’s the varying assistants helping and how things will play out.
Good narration. Only issue I have is with Bill’s character, the voice is very stereotypical and I’m a day where we are trying to be more individualised I think maybe this could have been more up to date. But otherwise brilliant book again.

Great continuation of the series
