About this listen

The seventh novel in the beloved Tales of the City series, Armistead Maupin’s best-selling San Francisco saga.

Inspiration for the Netflix Limited Series, Tales of the City

Nearly two decades after ending his groundbreaking Tales of the City saga of San Francisco life, Armistead Maupin revisits his all-too-human hero Michael Tolliver—the fifty-five-year-old sweet-spirited gardener and survivor of the plague that took so many of his friends and lovers—for a single day at once mundane and extraordinary... and filled with the everyday miracles of living.

Loved this next book in the series, felt very connected to Michael Tolliver, can't wait for next one!

Great next step in the story.

For lovers of the "Tales of the City" series, Armistead Maupin revisits our friends nearly 20 later, chronicled through the eyes the lovable Michael 'Mouse' Tolliver

Having endured, and survived, the horror of the AIDS epidemic, Michael is living his contented mid-life with his new Husband, Ben; both being situations he never thought he'd see

Maupin denied that this book was part of the 'Tales' series, and I suppose it could stand alone as a survivor's story, however it's real beauty comes in allowing 'Tales' fans the opportunity to find out how their old friends are doing and what they're up to now

A truly heartwarming book, performed by Maupin with sensitivity, love and his never-ending realness

A highly welcome return

Tales of the City were the books which me through the 80s . Frank, sometimes desperately sad but always positive and affectionate, they chronicled the lives of the wholly believable characters. Now, Armistead Maupin has brought us up to date with Michael and some of the "logical family" from that time. Their growing older is just as it should be and I felt comfortably and reassuringly wrapped up in their world once again. As with all this author's books, I did not want it to end.

The comfort blanket is still warm
