THE MESSAGE HAS DISAPPEARED.
SO HAS YOUR BEST FRIEND . . .

Get ready for the most unputdownable thriller of 2024, from no.1 bestselling author K. L. Slater
Saffy is waiting to go into a job interview when she receives a text message from her best friend, Leona:
Can’t speak . . . don’t text or call . . . please just come

As Saffy struggles to understand what is happening the phone screen changes:
This message was deleted.
Saffy races to Leona’s house, but when her friend answers the door, she insists everything's fine. She doesn't know anything about the message. Saffy can tell something’s not right, but after looking around the house, she can’t think of anything else she can do.
Six hours later, Saffy gets a knock on the door. It's the police. Leona is missing, with her young child. There's blood everywhere.
And Saffy was the last one to see them alive . . .

I really enjoyed the story and the twists but the way the narrator said some words (particularly ones ending in 's') was really off putting because it was like they weren't finishing the word. It was very distracting and made the story hard to listen to so brings the overall rating down

Good story but narrator let it down

it was a good story, a page turner, if I was reading it; but the reader's speech impediment is off putting, she can't pronounce lateral 's' sounds, at first I thought it was a character's speech pattern, but then the impediment was in all dialogue. Narrator has a less obvious Chris Eubanks type speech impediment when speaking! but it was a good story.

I usually love this authors books. I have read most of them and they are always guaranteed a good read. unfortunately I found this book a little drawn out and the constant introduction of characters was also getting frustrating. I did enjoy it, but not as good as all her other books.

Too drawn out.

I loved this book with all it's twists. It was narrated very nicely too. I liked how it slowly reveals parts of the puzzle and dips in and out of thr past and present, but ao fluidly

Very intriguing twists

I usually enjoy this author but I found this one really dull.
The storyline was boring and a bit disjointed and the characters weren't likeable.
The only reason I ploughed through to the end was that I wasn't able to return it!

Disappointing
