About this listen

His perfect game became a deadly gateway. Can one genius save reality from fright-fueled domination?

The year is 2070. Reclusive prodigy Memphis Garrick turned tragedy into a tech empire. Heading up the ultimate immersive experience not only brings him worldwide success, it allows him to visit the family he lost during childhood. But when a tyrant from a parallel universe hacks his virtual paradise and merges it with reality, Memphis is loaded into a battle to stop the coded spread of terror.

Plunged into an archaic Tudor world, Memphis partners with an enigmatic beauty to reverse the cruel program turning their fear into fuel. But in a realm where resistance means death, the pair’s last hope to restore billions of fallen souls rests on a daring high-stakes hard code reset.

This is a genuinely gripping novel. Its well told, absorbing and has some clever ideas, relevant to todays (and tomorrows) virtual worlds, tucked away in it. Top marks too to David Ritoul, the narrator, for has work. He lends gravitas to the story and his subtle personalisations of voice are excellent. I really enjoyed this and couldn't wait to get back to it. More please!

I don’t usually write reviews to be honest. I really enjoyed this book, I felt like I had sussed it out at the beginning and almost lost interest but as I continued I realised there was a lot more to it.

I feel like the story has stuck with me, and for the first time ever (bar Harry Potter of course!) I find myself waiting for the sequel before it’s even out!

You heard it here first- this will be made into a film.

Also- David Rintoul’s voice is just wonderful.

Highly recommended!

Looking forward to the movie
